That Sondor looks like it has a LOT of potential to grow as a package. I'm looking forward to see that company moving forward.

Hmm been hearing a lot of Sondors lately. Just saw this on Electrek. The price and specs look good. 4000wh battery, 80mph top speed, 80 miles range.

80 miles range though I doubt it. The Empulse has a 10.5kwh pack and it gets 60 miles range. So with half size pack you might be able to do like 40 or 50 miles with it.

That price too $5000 that's a real bargain, it only $1000 more than a Sur Ron and this is freeway capable. I wonder how it charges also.

It's pretty futuristic looking in a Husqvarna sort of way.

I like how she wears her helmet.
Speaking of helmets, Kali just gave me a new one. With professional fitment. They really rock. I gotta post an attaboy somewhere.
Er, it was free.

Anyhow, I am fascinated what will happen in the next few years. The times they are a changin’...

The $5000 electric motorcycle

Coming soon - the $5000 electric motorcycle. At least that's what this article says: https://arstechnica.com/cars/2021/0...ompany-is-building-a-5000-electric-motorbike/

It doesn't look too good in the unsprung weight department for the rear wheel, but the rest of it looks pretty good as a replacement for any small scooter. They're claiming a range of about 80 miles and top speed of 85.

This looks like a pretty good deal if you compare it to a $30K LiveWire. :laughing

===== Edit =====

Okay, I see that it's already been mentioned. Carry on.

Supposedly someone rides one around Metcalf, its like a smaller Redshift. Never seen one IRL. Would rather have a storm bee if it ever comes to US. Wish I had those crosstraining enduro skillz.

My Kuberg Ranger is to be delivered next month, counting the days! Impressed with this KTM vid and curious as to how they would compare in performance. Let's see the KTM 11kW, 238#, Ranger 12kW, 120#. Double power to weight ratio! Whoop-whoop! Half cost is the trade for half range (although they have a double battery option). I'm more interested in ultra low weight over and extra 20# and more old body beating range.

Where did you find a professional fitment?

About as perfect fitting as I was ever able to find was the custom Bell helmets made from 3D scanning your head. I STILL want one of those.

Ktm site says 18 kw.
Interesting, the Kuberg is only 48V...
So, you ordered the 12kw/24ah version? how much?

I wouldn't say they are comparable, ktm has actual dirt bike wheels and suspension.

I would like to see a Kuberg Surron comparison, both similar weight. The Freerider doesn't seem to be very popular. (I see one on CL, but I think that's their weakest model)

Like most KTM is playing with the numbers, they do state 18kW peak in overview but in looking at the specs you see this -

SPECIFICATIONS

Electric motor: Permanent magnet synchronous motor in a disc armature design
Rated output: 11 kW (15 hp) @ 5,500 rpm
Max. power: 16 kW (22 hp) @ 4,500 rpm
Torque: 42 Nm from 0 rpm

From Kuberg -

"Our controllers can do 18KW peak and 12 kW nominal but RANGERS are set to peak 14Kw electric max"

I got the 14kW Racer, single battery 24Ah, paid $4895 delivered 'cuz I got it on Indiegogo. They are throwing in a kids elec. balance bike as a freebie as well. The suspension is more than adequate for a 120# bike, ~$2000 retail stuff, far superior to SurRon. Expect to pay a bit over $7k for one now. IMO the Ranger will go where the KTM will not as it is closer to a trials bike in balance, lightness and agility. Plus this old geezer can pick it up with ease.

We'll see when I get it and report back.....

Interesting the specs are very similar to my modified Light Bee, the battery capacity is kind of weak though 24AH vs 32AH.

Seems like a good deal, their quality looks good, I would like to see how much their replacement parts cost.

I see they offer it in 8kw/12kw/14kw, so 3 different controllers but same motors?

I see the freerider has 24" wheels also, those 20" are just way too small.
