Sometimes... It's just not your time

Cruising along in the number one lane of I-780 EB approaching 680, minding my own business. For those of you not familiar, it's two lanes with an uphill blind left, maybe couple hundred feet of visibility. About to turn in for the curve and here comes 90 year old woman wrong way in my lane at probably 50mph.

Uhhhhh yeah. Not even enough time for 'oh shit'. Dynamite the brakes and dove to the number two without thinking. She goes by with maybe a 70mph difference.

Didn't even have time to shit my pants. Be careful out there, never know what's waiting for you.

Yes, didn't mean to undermine the skills. great job.

I'm not even sure there were any. I've got over it a hundred times in my head already and don't even remember thinking or doing anything. All I know is I was in the left wheel track of the one and ended up in the two, I don't think she slowed at all and went right by me

Glad you didn't become a splat on her windshield! :party

She was going the wrong way on the freeway? Or on the wrong side of the road on a two lane Hwy? The link picture looks like the freeway.

I guess since you know it was a 90 y/o woman she got stopped?

Freeway. It's pretty typical for elderly and drunks to end up in the number one lane because they think it's the slow lane for them, just never thought it would happen to me.

This way...That way...
New Hyperstrada would got you one lane over 3/10th quicker. Really. It's for safety! :thumbup

Very intense. Well, when one has excellent skills, things just become automatic. I'm quite sure much of that was involved. I'm also pretty sure someone was watching over you too.

I say this because my experience with the deer last night was very different. I know everything happened quickly but it felt like slow motion and I remember every nuance of it. However, the outcome is all that matters. :thumbup

Wow... so glad you've got so much experience on a bike that no actual thought was necessary to save your life!!
I hope she was caught... sounds like her family needs to take her license and her keys away...

Were you on duty? Did you chase after her? You may have been fortunate to avoid her, but what happened to all the other traffic she was bound to encounter? Incredible to believe that she did not cause a single accident.
