So you like racing but hate Formula One...why you should watch Sunday's race though

So, you might want to DVR the next F1 race and even qualifying.

Qualifying is often more entertaining so I'd DVR both.

The Championship is over, Hamilton won his 7th Championship easily but there has always been this "well, he has the best car, so he should win, I'll bet 'so and so' in that car could win as well. Hamilton is over rated."

Well, Hamilton has Covid so a young gun from Williams, (last place team), who has over performed in that bad car is in the seat this weekend.

If he wins there will be mayhem and all the haters will feel vindicated.

Hamilton's team mate of the past few years, Bottas, a Fin, is quite good, he used to be "the" young gun, but while has once in a while beaten Hamilton in qualifying, and even some races, often Hamilton passes him and wins by a mile as he is simply a better race day driver than Bottas.

So it will be highly entertaining and you might enjoy it.

Well with Margues out ..Hamilton out maybe it will be more interesting.

I usally record and zip through.. just not the battling I like to see.
Indy Car is much more of that and it is not usually a ton.

High speed parade lap.

Usually if you don't pay attention to the very competitive mid pack.

The last F1 race as you likely know had the most horrific crash in a very very long time where the relatively new "Halo" device implemented in F1 and Indycar saved a driver's life without question.

I never pay attention to the mid pack. TV doesn’t even cover it. People just don’t care about the race for 8th place.

I'm gonna disagree with you on this one. I think the coverage is very good. The network knows that mid pack is where the real racing takes places.

Well, they cover it well enough for me to be well aware of who is gaining on who and who is not.

They do spend more time on how far back Ferrari is though! :laughing

It's a tough sport because it's a combination of the driver's skill and the technology of the car.

Yes, but the two best cars this year, the Mercedes and the Red Bull Honda, the number one driver of each has crushed the number two driver in results driving the same car.

Both number one drivers are more than 100 points ahead of their number two drivers.

100 points is a lot of points.

So talent does make a difference for sure...and luck, no doubt as Bottas has had horrific luck.

Yeah. I enjoyed watching IROC. It pitted drivers against each other. Pure skill based racing.
It's not the drivers driving these championships, it's the manufacturer's who shell out the $$$$$$ needed to race in a prototype series like this. Mercedes spent $442 million in 2019 to race F1.

I believe, out of pocket, it's really more like $10mil with all the sponsorship deals and prize monies.

Yeah. I enjoyed watching IROC. It pitted drivers against each other. Pure skill based racing.

I read somewhere last week that they were going to do that again, on an international basis. NASCAR, Indy, Rally and F1 (likely former drivers).
