You can now ride in the bicycle lane while in San Francisco, as many scooter users do. Otherwise, not much different.

Actually that's a good point. Do I need plugs?

Yes, the Sym 200 can easily do 70+mph. I've been riding scooters for years now, as I mentioned in another treadrant, people seem to dismiss them and will take the right of way from you just because they're bigger and don't see a threat. They seem to expect you to give way (even when you have the way) because you are smaller. It happens all the time, not to mention if you thought people didn't see you on your MC, well now you're half that size again.

If the scoot is a Sym HD, then your tires will be larger than the RV. So that will help with the pot holes and tracks. Your feet together is much more comfortable than your feet apart on pegs. Good luck.

Thanks I just checked, its the 200 HD EVO. 16" tires.

171cc 4 Valve Ceramic-coated Engine,
Liquid Cool Technology
72mph Top Speed / 15.3HP-8000RPM / 70mpg

Is it highway legal? Would that be stupid?

The problem is wind noise, not exhaust noise (except where it isn't). If you're going over 25-30mph, you should wear plugs.

Will do thank you!

I believe 150cc is all you need to be highway legal in CA. And if you can maintain in the slower lanes, then you should be OK. I ride my scoot on HWY 101 all the time. It's not that bad.

Not in a 72 mph max vehicle :)

Ahhh ... if memory serves me well, you stick to the left because being in the middle and right lanes increases your perceived chances of being hit, irrespective of speed. Perhaps you've got better since, and less of the proverbial left-lane hogger. Good for you!

I never hogged the left lane and always yielded to faster traffic.

I just happened to be the faster traffic much of the time.
