So much hypocrisy on this thread, it's sickening.

In the name of political correctness, you get to post an inflammatory thread title, call names and gang up on a very rational, balanced BARF contributor merely pointing out what you don't want to hear.

I have never complained to a MOD about a thread and posters behavior that I can remember.

I just have.

As has been pointed out, the thread title takes it's wording from the title of the article. If you have issue with that, take it up with him. :rolleyes

It doesn't mean the OP has to repeat it. Or for you to defend it, thus trying to negate the objections that have gotten us to this point.

Mods, lock this suckah. This is the opportunity to counteract all the complaning about what is wrong with BARF lately. Just say no.

Is fintastic
So a remembrance thread gets turned into this?

How about "2. Kindness - Be kind to you fellow man"?

Those poor people.

These guys are right (jdhu, teg, arch). You guys have an extreme focus on trying to find homophobia in everything, but the title of the thread is misleading.

What is happening to BARF? The cop haters are building up a head of steam. The sympathies for criminal minorities is real strong. Now, jumping (dogpiling) on another member here, for voicing his opinion about the title being misleading, which it is. You'll probably call him/them/me, homophobic, next.

Fuck, lighten up. This is the kitchen sink. There is no room here for lockstep Policital Correctness.

Indeed those criminal gays should get back in the closet where they belong, right?

Yes, because the media never write inflammatory news articles, or titles with the intent of generating outrage and therefore more readers. I guess if the media wrote it, then we have to agree with it. :rolleyes

What happened to you Ernie. In the past few months, you've changed drastically. Where did I say the gays were criminals. I, like the others, pointed out that the title is misleading and inflammatory.. Does that, in your mind, make me homophobic?

So ending freedom of speech you don't agree with is a cure?

The thread title is the tile of the article so not sure what you are complaining about there.

Jdhu quit being so pedantic. The same goes for Archamedis. You guys missed a forest between the trees. The article uses this tragedy to illustrate the point of the environment during those times: the unclaimed bodies, reluctance by police to investigate, the media reaction, the church reaction, etc. OP made a point about being kind to one another, and that there is still work to be done. You two zoomed in one one small part of the whole thing. That it might have been from the community and who, from the article, was "itinerant troublemaker with known mental problems".

i found the same incongruity with the Article title and the suspected arsonist's orientation.

i then reread the title and decided that said title doesn't say anything about it being a hate crime at all, rather my own prejudices led me to THINK that's what the article is about when it is not and there really is no incongruity.

the article is about the aftermath, or rather lack of aftermath in proportion to the loss of life

nowhere in the article is the phrase Hate Crime. the only use of the word HATE is in fact in reference to the Rev Richard Williamson who commited the egrigious sin of holding a prayer service in honor of the victims.

both sides of this shitshow of a thread are having reading comprehension issues.

I was being facetious. I've always felt you're a law and order guy who thinks any minority that complains about anything needs to get up and stand on their own two feet and get a better job. It's not that simple.

Actually, it is that simple. And for a felon, I am a law and order type of guy.

Fair point, bling. I confess to being reactive because I think bashing Jd about it is wrong. Jd is a very thoughtful, careful poster here, not a troller or flame-thrower. Calling him "lawyer-'boy" to minimalize or infantilize him is objectionable. Even though it's "free speech."

Tonight we ride
A thread memorializing one of the worst incidents in queer history in the US, and some folks want to derail by going all semantics jockey.

Very humane of you, gentlemen. Meanwhile, I'll be mourning the losses, pondering how far we've come, and paving an even better road for us ahead.

Thanks for posting, EJGlows.

Your lack of reading comprehension is your problem. Jdhu's is his. What he chose to do was piss on a memorial thread and criticize it because he saw something that was poorly written. It's a bit like shitting at a funeral when the preacher makes a mistake. It's certainly logical, it's just in extremely bad taste. Forty people died, so let's nit pick the article and find ways to disregard it.
