I'll leave the thread, last post. Apparently, there are topics that are off limits, or as Lunch Box might agree, only certain opinions are allowed.
I didn't even express an opinion here. I read about the incident, and asked a question, since the OP is couched in language about homophobia.
You might think you and others are making BARF better by regulating speech, but you aren't.
I thought Jdhu posted good information. The first thing I thought with the way the Op wrote the post was that it was that the people were killed because they are gay. It doesn't make it any less of a tragedy if they were killed for other reasons, but it definitely changes the plot line.

Wow, you guys are seeing homophobia everywhere these days aren't ya? JDHU made a valid point, i.e., that the title of the thread is misleading, i.e., implies that the reason the people were massacred was because they were LGBT, when it doesn't appear that it had anything to do with it. The fact that families were unwilling to claim their dead is horrific, but the murders themselves are simply the murder of 40 human beings. Sexual orientation was not why they were murdered.

What is your reasoning there? How do you know this? Do you have ANY proof? Apparently an unsubstantiated statement that a suspect may have been gay is enough to convict him of the crime.

Correct, you have no power to prevent me from hitting the "enter" key. But, take a step back and look what just happened. It's the same thing as of late, trying to shout down some opinions (Lunch Box even came out and said some opinions shouldn't be allowed), using "homophobia" and other "think of the children" justifications.

I'm not the one penning an inflammatory title to a thread, so I'd turn it around, what, if any, evidence is there that this was a hate crime? I'm asking because I don't know, I'm assuming that the article linked by the OP is the most accurate information available.
BTW, I'm incredibly pro gay rights. I'm also incredibly pro 'accurate information as free from bias as possible'.

Thread title is the title of the LINKED ARTICLE, for those with comprehension problems.
It was a horrific event that reminds us of how much closer to acceptance the LGBT community has gotten.
The petty arguments remind me of how FAR we still are as a whole from that acceptance.

Seems like the burden of proof should lie with the person making the accusation. It very well could have been a hate crime, but claiming it was without any evidence is inflammatory.
