aww!!

The point of this post, and hopefully, inspire others to join in the fun, and possibly others to buy a mini for themselves to join in on the fun.

it's working! i want one!! :cry

several weeks ago, i fell in love-at-first-sight with an rs50 at scuderia, but i'm not so sure that that bike is for me. i'm really intrigued with getting a mini sportbike to play with though. they're so freakin' cute!! :love

i've been perusing old mini-bikes related posts on barf to get some ideas, and am planning to check out the smrrc races on 4/20 in stockton to see what there is to see. if there are any tips/pointers anyone has for me though, i'm listening :D

..i love my sv650s. is there anything quite like it in the mini-bikey world i might also enjoy? (it would be great/convenient if i could find one i adored that i could use both on city-streets and the track if possible, but not a strict requirement :)

The Aprilia RS50 and Derbi GPR50 are perfect. Sportbike look and both are street legal and are perfect for Stockton. All you need are some good rubber if you want to keep 'em stock Either Dunlop slicks or sticky semi-street tires like the IRCs. Checkout http://www.teamcalamari.com for available options.

Wait you can legally ride these bikes on the roads? I thought u couldnt.

Yup, both bikes are sold as street legal motorcycles (tho' not freeway legal). If you scroll thru my pix within this thread, you'll see a couple of Aprilla RS's, one 72cc, the other 75cc.
Being that you plan to ride Stockton, find a bike that is already set-up for the track....my recommendation. Btw, if I'm not mistaken, I have seen a couple posted here on Barf recently. Lastly, there are plenty of hop-up's for both Derbi and Aprilla ;)

Currently, there seems to be more Aprilla's raced at Stockton than the GPR Derbi. If racing is not your thing and just want to track, that's a prefect option as well. The track will definately help you becoming a better rider ;) Matt (track director) offers a one-on-one to help you get you more acquanted with lines, braking and shift points, as well as proper body positioning. Click on the Stockton/SMRRC info thread for his contact number.

Looks like you had the road all to yourself. :thumbup

Actually, Calaveras saw a lot of action that day. I encountered a 5 cars, and several variations of bikes (mostly Harley's) and a lot of cyclists (travelling opposite of me) during the moments I had stopped to take pix. I just left them out :p On the way back, I did wave one rider by, as I knew I was planning to make a stop soon for a pic moment. Altho, for the most part, I pretty much felt like I was on my own.

so when r we gonna have the next mini ride so we can add some more pics to this thread !??!?!

:loco

Beleive me, I want to get a ride together with y'all too!!!! It's just that these days, I have to plan around my wife's weekend working hours :cry Only if y'all lived a bit closer to me, so I can call ya on a moments notice of when I do get that green light to go for a ride.

Meanwhile, hang in there and stay tuned ;)

Hey Brad!

Solo ride, huh? Any more details of your ride (to/from and mileage)?

And speaking of mileage, what is it with your tank capacity?

Any how, Looking forward to doing another 9 ride(s) this year.

ps, I too did a solo ride yesterday :teeth I did another jaunt thru Calaveras and meet my wife (w/ kids) at her brothers (and family) house in fremont, which is a mile east on Mission Blvd from Niles Canyon/84.

Secn8ure and I literly decided a last minute meet to ride to the La Ducati Day. Mark on his Repsol 400rr, and I on the NSR :toothless We rode approx 80 miles through 84, 35 and a small portion of hwy 9 and the return back.

Mark recorded some footage of the :ride 84, 35, and hwy 9 and back

I gotta give SpeedyCorky (Charlie) major props for any long distance riding he does upon his NSR :hail Even for me being 5' 2" tall, it was a tough ride upon the cramped and aggressive riding position of the NSR. I now truly realize how good I had it with the YSR. Not only from a better riders position, but having a 20 + hp motor :p
With the NSR stock gearing (14/44) and red-lining the lil NSR 50 motor at 13k rpms, I reached 60 mph :toothless A 63cc kit is definately in order for any future long distance rides using the NSR :laughing Meanwhile, I think I'll use the NSR for short rides around town, posing and or occasionally riding up Calaveras to keep the tire edges rounded :p

Again, Mark, Thanks for everything!....the two way radio's :thumbup recording the ride, sharing with me some of the Repsol lubricants that you won in the raffle at the La Ducati meet, and most of all, your company :port
