Except that his discovery of the new world is on the same level as my discovery that there was a women's forum on this website- I "discovered" a thing that others already knew about.

The holiday was made by politicians, no reason it can't be unmade by them.

You should learn to just read. The word "genocide" does not appear in that article at all. Why? Because Columbus didn't seek to destroy Indians. He wanted to profit from their land and them. There is no profit in dead people.

After reading the Oatmeal comic, celebrating the life's work of Columbus is pretty hard to do. I think its time we started being painfully honest about our history. I'm ok with re-naming Columbus day and 1/2 my family stepped off the boat from Italy.
