whatever Yamaha is going to do, its probably going to be pretty rad. Your typical triple kind of sounds dumb, but with a irregular firing order in the mix, I bet it will sounds amazeballs .

The more, the merrier - I-3 Yamaha, V-4 Honda, maybe? It's time for sportbikes to be interesting again! :teeth

Triples do sound pretty sweet at full scream.

Not sure about the added counter-balancing bits-n-bobs needed to make it right but happy to wait and see what Yamaha does.

Yamaha is NOT racing wsbk, and the crossplane Rweezy works just fine.Maybe a 3cyl fz6/fz8,sure I could see that, but a supersport/racebike?No point,no advantage to a triple other than being different just for the sake of novelty.

I hope so!!

Both my bikes are triples; I bought them specifically because of the engine.

The I3 really is an outstanding configuration. I was wondering when more manufacturers would go back and look at the I3. Then, MV Augusta launches a 675 I3. Now Yamaha.

Cool!! Choice is good. The Japanese bikes are engineering marvels, but honestly the big 4 don't really distinguish themselves from each other. It would be awesome to see Honda and Yamaha distinguish themselves from the other two by choosing a different engine layout. Suzuki? Kawasaki?

yep, Yamaha is going to abandon all they've learned in GP w/ their big-bang I4 and their world-champ R1 and R6s to make a bike that no one would race (professionally) :rolleyes.

+1 to rapidrobbie. the FZ's, maybe. the R6/R1, no way in hell.
