Need input about "Social Distancing" ride

You guys are really grinding my gears.

People are allowed to go hiking, bicycle, running, etc., and you're trying to tell me to sit my ass at home? Please read the "order" and educate yourself.
Engaging in "outdoor activities" are considered "essential activities", go ride your fvck'n motorcycles. At gas stops, please refrain from licking your riding buddies in the face.

Lord Jesus help us.
....and just hope real hard you don't go down.
That's basically what you're saying.

Metcalf OHV park in Santa Clara County is closed due to covid-19.

https://www.sccgov.org/sites/parks/Pages/covid-19-update.aspx

Carnegie OHV is in San Joaquin County, not within the original 6 county shelter in place area. Now that we have a state-wide shelter in place order, I'd imagine Carnegie will be closed too.

It's not complicated. The shelter in place order is intended to limit non-essential "travel" to limit the "spread" of virus. Walking, biking, hiking around your neighborhood while maintaining social distance limits the risk of "spreading", while non-essential motor vehicle "travel" increases the risks of "spreading".

Whammy says if you wanna ride go ride.
Everyone is an adult and responsible for their actions.
If you do crash you know the consequences. If you get sick well that's on you

This line of thinking is only taking into account yourself. As I said, typical American behavior, unable to think outside of their immediate self/inner circle.

YOU'RE NOT JUST RISKING YOUR OWN SAFETY, YOU'RE RISKING THE SAFETY OF EVERYONE.

Practice your social spacing and such.

Me... I'm gonna continue to drive on my simulator and get the most track time in can get.

Like i said in the other thread... I downloaded the whole series of Sanford and Son.
137 episodes. In between all the virtual track time I'm getting i'll binge watch some too.
Forced vacation with consequences... that's how Whammy sees it.
Take advantage of it there is something you can do around the house to improve your living situation.
Have fun, go try to find the end of the internet.

So if you're taking responsibility for your action, if you get someone sick because you wanted to go for a ride are you responsible for their potential death as well?

How is riding a motorcycle ANY different than riding a bicycle, contagion wise? How is brap'n around put you at MORE of a risk to spreading the virus? My lung releases on exhale little vapor droplets that get spread around the entire bay area?

It's interesting to see how fast people fall in line with the doctorine that which is spewed from the bowels of the government...

HOW AM I RISKING THE SAFETY OF EVERYONE? HOW AM I RISKING MY SAFETY?

I LIKE BOLD TEXT.

Like I pointed out, why is riding a motorcycle not ok but riding your bicycle is ok? Don't they have comparable risk of crashing and the same treatment? I'm not trying to be a dick but the argument makes no sense.

I never said that.
I said educate yourself on the "order."

Lol come the fuck on man. Your government and your governor are asking you to stay indoors, treat it as you yourself have the virus. Cuomo even had to take to the air to address people like yourself, along with Newsom as well.

Get fucking bent. Common sense is lost to some.

Ride is off. I am driving up to the house where my wife is alone presently. She needs help with a few things.

The virus can linger on your clothes, bike, anything you touch. For the duration of your ride, and linger there for up to 3 days. And if you go down, everyone who comes to help you is now impacted. Or, if you're not infected already, the chances of contracting the virus from one of the first responders/ambulances/hospitals is exponentially higher. Even if you don't do that... you're taking away resources that are better used elsewhere. Selfish.

If you think riding a bicycle and riding a motorcycle have comparable risk, I can't help you.

Overall this pandemic is really telling about some people's true nature, not exclusive to this forum. Some I know, some I even consider friends, have been trying to justify selfish and shitty behavior. Pretty disappointing.

Do you really need such a simple thing explained to you? Do you need to gas up after a ride? Do other riders like you need to gas up? Don't all the joy riding riders and drivers like you need to gas up? Is all that "essential travel" at this time? Should we all just do what we please, disregard our civic duties and ignore an official government order? This soft shelter in place order is a plea for everyone's help; take it seriously and do your part.

Aaaaaand, here in this thread is why the virus went crazy in Italy, and why it'll be bad here. "You ain't the boss of me, I do what I want" attitude will be the death of a lot of folks here in the US.

Yup pretty much. Might as well cue up the Facebook "thoughts and prayers" status update now... :rolleyes

What's interesting is how goddamn hard some of the conspicuously rugged individualists are working to maintain "real rider" branding in the face of so much objective fact.

Sorry, I said "interesting" when I meant incredibly selfish and unbelievably stupid.

Look, I get that some riders are apparently so fuckin' hardcore that being indoors for even a couple days strains your fragile snowflake constitutions. And obviously, you can't be seen here on BARF as kowtowing to The Man.

Is it really that hard to think this through?

1. The "but bicycles..." argument is short-sighted bullshit. Can you guys leaning on that not see the difference between riding a bike around the neighborhood to get some air and railing Mines?

Furthermore, unnecessary travel on bicycles is out too. Recreational riding of Redwood, say, on a bicycle or motorbike right now are both dumb and selfish, you dig?

2. I know all you hardcore motherfuckers think you're so talented and skilled, but this forum is full of "it wasn't my fault" crashes, and though y'all love to whine about "cagers" fucking us, the reality is that a big chunk of moto crashes involved no one but the rider.

There's someone in this very thread promoting the idea that riding is ok right now, despite having been taking out by a deer a few months back. I myself was taken out by a driver in what turned out to be a life-changing accident in 2018. The only "choice" in either of those cases was the choice to ride.

In normal circumstances, you want to risk your own ass, cool. Now, the cost of that risk isn't just you.

It's not that hard to figure out. Or it shouldn't be.

Want to hear about the bodies piling up in Italy, and how the old/infirm are lost causes that are made comfortable but nothing can be done, so they're treating those that can be helped? Happy to share news from a family friend who's a doctor there. But yeah, the quarantine here is some gov't bullshit.

Edit: I apologize for the a-hole tone of my post. My point is, this is an unprecedented (in our lifetime) global health crisis, maybe it's not a bad idea to play it safe for a bit.
