Name a bike that fits these parameters

Too much lean angle...
14.4 kWh Zero DS with 17's. Flogging it in 50 hp mode you may get 80 miles, if that's enough for a loop. 414 lbs wet that feel more like 362 lbs because no crankshaft inertia or gas tank.

Old Enough to Know Better
No one I know has kept an FZ07 more than a few months. It's a great motor but a wonky chassis.

Time to put dat fancy engineering degree to work :x:party

Octane Socks
17/17 or 17/19 tire sizes, or can be somewhat easily converted to 17/17 tire size
Streetfighter or fully upright ergonomics (not sport bike)
Lightweight (sub 400lb WET, preferably closer to 350lb)
Reliable 50-60hp (or more)

The only thing I can think of is the latest 690 duke. Is there anything else?

If it doesn't come like this from the factory, what chassis/motor would you couple in order to achieve it?

I think if you were to look at the 600cc sportbikes from the timeframe of 03-07 you'd probably be able to find something that fits those parameters.

A few of those bikes (03 R6, 07-09 CBR600RR) come in around 400-415 wet. Strip off all the OEM fuckery, aftermarket can, lithium battery, you'd be looking at sub 400lb, 120hp. Anything can be made into a dirtbike-street fighter, if you believe.

From my understanding, you're looking for something super reliable (Japanese). Something that has a fun factor. Something that isn't a KTM. Something that is really light weight, because light is right!

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

OP lays out only four criteria, one is not a sport bike. And your recommendation is a 13-17 year old sport bike? Talk about a swing and a miss.

Also I am 6ft tall so a street triple, fz07, etc are just really small for me. I would prefer something a little more open.. but not quite a dirtbike which can barely break 100mph.

You really should sit on a Street Triple, if needed consider adjustable rearsets. That engine is sublime and the suspension is not too shabby. I find the Ohlins too harsh for road use, so save money there.

I rode a STR and it felt like a pocket bike to me. I LOVED the engine, suspension, and transmission.

My friend, have you heard the good news? ;)

Jokes aside, I was merely hopping on the FZ-07 train...had one but moved on to the Ducaca train already.:party

I should look into that. I like my bike alot except for the seat which I hate enough to consider getting rid of the bike.
Would be cheaper to just buy a custom seat.

Why am I the only one to call out the triples for being dumb? They're just a compromise between a kick you in the face twin and a rip your face off I4. Make a choice and ride your bike. Quit pretending that a bike that rounds off the edges is acceptable.

Opinions assholes...
I love the Street Triple.

:laughing

What is the technical difference between "kick you in the face" and "rip your face off"?

Because that’s the glass half empty view - I agree with it based on my impression of my '06 Speed Triple 1050.

The glass half full view is that triples kick harder than I4s and rips more than twins - this is my impression on an '16 Tiger 800 I rented for a day.
