My R6 wont wheelie

To begin with, I am in no way, shape, or form an amazing rider, let alone stunt rider, which is why im reaching out to those of you who are.

Now, I see a TON of videos of people on stock R6 gearing popping their bikes up at 7-8k rpm in first gear and getting the bike clutched up in 2nd. i cannot get the bike up in second gear for some reason and it feels really sluggish? i can hop it up in first at about 10k rpm or so doing a power wheelie. how do people pop it up at 25-30 with stock gearing and my bike feels like a fatass when i try? and i weigh roughly 165-170 lbs.

thanks :thumbup

Make sure the clutch is adjusted properly....Aside from that clutch wheelies are generally a ton smoother than power wheelies, you should be able to get the front up on that bike. It has plenty of HP

what do you mean "adjusted properly", and how fast and at what rpm should my bike pop up in 2nd? 1st is too touchy for me

You should be able to pull the clutch in and rev the engine up a few thousand rpm above the base speed/rpm, and as you release the clutch progress to wide open throttle fairly quickly and the front will come right up.

If you are doing power wheelies they can easily make you afraid of it coming up because it happens so fast at wot.

Clutch wheelies are alot more smoothe, the front should come up and with proper throttle movement stay up or come down easy.

I had a ninja 650r which was not a real powerful bike and stock geared I could do small wheelies in second without pulling on the bars or particularly going crazy. Any 600cc inline 4 can yank the wheel up easily.

Be careful slamming the nose down if you get frightened, I ride supermoto so the chance of blowing the forks/wheel up is slim but not impossible.

TEACH ME :hail

I would use the clutch for 1st and 2nd just because it was alot easier. For third, I'd have to be right in the powerband and bounce it right up with no clutch. This was a long time ago tho, from what I remember I had to be way up in the RPMs to have any sort of power on that bike. It handled like a dream tho.

hey guys, just went out for about an hour to do wheelies around backstreets. i got about 2 solid wheelies in first gear that i was satisfied with but its still 50/50 on whether or not the bike comes up. i even got it a little too high once in 1st. now for 2nd gear, im still hopeless. it just will not come up?

What rpm are you starting at in second gear, and what is your "target" rpm that you rev to before releasing the clutch....

Don't forget to shift your butt back in the seat as well as use your torso to support your weight. If you are leaning on the bars and your dick is kissing the gas tank, it will be way more difficult to wheelie.

I used to do wheelies on a '99 CBR F4. Granted, they were first gear wheelies, but was still doin them

Oh, also, go to the stunt spot general forum...there are at least 2 stickies of how to wheelie...

in second ill go up to about 8k, clutch to 10-11k, and pop it. maybe a tiny little 1inch hop come out of it.

i thnk this may be my problem, sir! tomorrow i shall go out with my ass shifted to the back. i just realized my nuts were hugging the tank out of fear of looping the bike. im still stoked from my wheelie i did today. 5 second wheelie solid at 35mph :)
