Dude did 18 laps in FP3, nine full, with five under race pace, but only two back to back. He was never going to race, but I still fail to see how he can brake that hard with that arm. My guess is more force is place on the collarbones and shoulders. A racer I am not, but I'll hold up the A group with my overinflated B group ego any day of the week.

Gag! Brutal! :green

Damn, man, another tumble would be no Bueno even with the plate.

Any rider not on Repsol wouldn't have been able to even think about riding for at least two races.

I would have been home on the couch. And expecting a six week recovery before lifting light weights. I hope he didn't refuck his arm by doing that. The only thing keeping the bone in place is the screws.

Granted, these guys are super fit, young, have the best surgeons, drugs, trainers, dieticians available, but even if you cut that in half, it's three weeks. Three weeks and then hopping on a 250+hp motorcycle and riding it as fast as humanly possible. Not picking up some dumb bells and hoping that someday you'll get even 90% strength back.

Yeah, even attempting to get back on a bike that soon isn't just insane, but irresponsible. I dunno if it's 100% him or his dad and Puig pushing him as well.

The idea of even stressing that thing grosses me out.

Yup. The standard recovery to full strength for that is supposed to be six months. We'll see how it goes.

I think it was a combo of dad, Puig, Dorna, and MM's colossal ego, backed by his utter self confidence. Ego and self confidence win races, if you have talent, which he has gobs of. But they are still capable of being deadly.

What's kinda insane is the fact that an injury like that in any stick and/or ball game would put you out for the season. At the very least. That might be career-ending for a lot of sports.

Got an owie in baseball or basketball? You're riding pine. You may get some minutes after a lot of therapy, but it doesn't take much to get on the DL.

Dude broke his arm IN HALF. :wtf

Think about the long game, Marc.

most sports dont have their medical center sponsored by the same brands as their racers

its an insane conflict of intrestt that clinia mobile is sponsored by alpinestars

if this was a sport with an independent commission, he probably wouldbt ecven be allowed to train yet

I wasn't aware of that or maybe had forgotten.

That's pretty insane. I realize motorcycle racing isn't a stick and ball game and I'm not advocating riders sitting out for relatively minor stuff. However, this is a really serious injury, nerve damage or no. Even a world class pro shouldn't even be thinking about getting back to the sport at this point. Like I said, I don't want to witness some heinous shit cuz Dorna is allowing him to ride.

Break your arm in MMA and you get an indefinite medical suspension right off the bat. Break like that would put you out for a year, easy.

Totally... man. That sucker was snapped.

Kevin's point about the clinic is interesting.

Fuck Marc had to do push ups on that thing.. Rins too... Cal.. damn.
Those dudes are at another level of desire.. probably pressure too.

How does that Alpinestars conflict of interest work exactly? Let's have some more facts: Alpinestars isn't even a main sponsor of Clinica Mobile, not even a top four. Quiron salud (title), carestream, europ assistance, and GE healthcare make up the top four. Alpinestars is mixed in with all the scrub sponsors, including Dainese. I seriously doubt anyone from Alpinestars is rushing down to make sure their riders are getting back in the game. I'm going to trust that the healthcare sponsors are making sound investments in the clinic.

Furthermore, I'm glad motorcycle racing is set up the way it is. I think they do a good job with head injuries and the like. I don't want independent commissions. I want best teams/riders having the best surgeons doing their work so we can have the best product on the track. You can't have some nanny doctors controlling your sport. If your head is right and you can ride, ride.
