Good article and wow that made Puig look like a world class human being. That's so far from how he is usually perceived. I did like that he brought up Wayne's injury. A really good and polite rebuttal.

I tend to agree with this. Kevin voiced an opinion, one that he has every right to make. When he said Pedrosa hadn't won anything, it was most clear what he meant. In retrospect, he should have been a bit more careful, but it was just an opinion, again his to make. I did not read anything disrepectful about that.
Puig, in a rather childish and overly defensive manner, writes this wall of diatribe in an attempt to slam Schwantz and put him in his place. I think it's all bullshit.
My own thought on Pedrosa is that he has had a very successful career and should be proud of what he has been able to achieve. But I honestly do not think he will ever win a MotoGP 'ship. Puig will betray him and push the chosen one, because I do not think he is loyal to anyone but himself.
EDIT - I should expand on my thought a little; Dani is still capable of winning a title, but the window is closing rapidly. The way Marquez is progressing, Pedrosa has to do it this year. After that, I believe that Marquez will overtake him and become the number one rider at HRC unless he aggressively fights him off and defends his position there, and I'm not sure he can do it. He is on the best bike, he still has the talent, but it HAS to be this year.

Well that's unfortunate.
I've never met him or had the oppurtunity to be around him so I don't know about this. However, I too have had the thought that he should shut the hell up about certain things, or at least give a bit more thought to what comes out of his mouth.

To be honest he imo he makes a bit of an effort to behave at motorcycle events. He was here for a vintage car event once and was way worse than I had ever seen him. There was not one person in the entire paddock who was ok with him. He literally found a way to piss off everybody. I still have no idea how he managed that.

You have that title – which took you eight years since your first race in 1986 – but let me tell you that the reason is because Wayne Rainey crashed at Misano and had to stop competing that year, which meant you practically won the title by default

with the schwantz/puig thing, i agree with schwantz even though it wasnt his place to offer conjecture. i agree with puig as well because he had nothing but facts in his rebuttal. but still, schwantz just addressed the elephant in the room. dani wont win. last year was his best chance and now he is fucked, unless marquez, lorenzo and rossi all suffer season ending injuries, which is pretty unlikely.
if anything, id like for this to be a good, healthy usa vs. spain rivalry in moto racing.....too bad we dont have anyone competitive in the top class

i dont see that happening, unless crutchlow gets a better offer from gresini or a factory team (which aint happening anytime soon). pol has a better bet with snagging a seat somewhere at ducati, although, it would be pretty awesome if alix and pol both were signed to tech3.

remember, on team tech trois, one seat is a yamaha signed rider, the other is a tech three rider. cal is on his last year, and smith is signed for two years from herve. so yam has a HUGE say(read 100% say) in who goes there, herve does not. cal has been talking mad shit about yamaha, and lets face it, cal aint the long term future of yamaha. with both rossi and george signed to the factory team, pol has to go somewhere. a ducati is pretty much the death knell for anyone right now, tho nicly IS on a one year deal and they were looking at cal before.

as long as cal is fighting competently with the top 5, tech trois has to be happy with him. unless he comes out and says "the ceo yamaha raped my grandmother and the bike puts my balls in a vise every time i get on the machine", they will try and hold onto him. also, dont mention the millions of euros he brings in from anglo companies advertising.
