Indian Motorcycle Invents the Dyna LOL

Im beyond stoked that Indian is now making the Dyna that Harley should have. That bike looks good. If it's anything like any of the other Indians I have ridden, it'll be spectacular. Between this and the FTR, they've got me impressed. The Challenger is no slouch either.
Too bad I'm not a new bike buyer.

On the subject of control placement: Where your feet are in relationship to your ass depends on the type of riding you're doing. While I wish my feet were slightly farther back on my cruiser, it's still an appropriate location given the seat height and length to the bars. putting the pegs directly below the seat doesn't work when there's only 14" between the seat and the bottom of the frame. You could argue that every bike should either be a sport touring or ADV platform, but that's basically one step from yelling at clouds...

Understand why you may have thought that but I was commenting on the 111 motor, the same as the new Chief. I think the Chief release date isn't until April sometime.

Agreed. :thumbup

Those Chiefs are on demo trucks right now. If a demo truck is at any local dealership now you can ride one. I hope to soon.

Their website says no current events. Had to poke around a bit even to find the demos. They sure don't have a lot of dealers compared to Harley, the big 4, or even KTM & Ducati (at least near me).

Saw a cool FTR video recently which led to me pricing that bike online. Going from memory, but it seemed like a $13.5k bike becomes a $20k bike really fast with options & accessories.

According to the Indian Motorcycle Forum a few people have ridden them. They have 3 models ready to ride on the demo truck.

I like the Chief Dark Horse.

Put me in chaps and on a local blvd and I could find some smiles. :ride

Really?
I did demo'ed an FTR1200 in the summer. It was a crazy ride and the bike is extremely fast in sport setting. But, I wasn't too keen on its ergonomic, felt very very weird. I like the engine though.

I've been curious about those, especially since they're going to 17s f/r. But I've not had the opportunity to ride one, can you elaborate about the how the egros felt weird?

Umm, it's really hard to explain. When I ride my Striple 765RS, it fit me like a glove. When I demo'ed a Buell XB12 way back, it felt awesome. Goes the same for KTM Superdukes (990 and 1290), super comfy. Riding on the FTR, I felt that my legs were set out of place and my feet were angled differently. The gas tank felt out of place. I can only attest to my preference of having a gas tank in front of my lower torso and pelvic. I feel like I am in the highest place in the world. The FTR felt ALMOST supermoto'ish, like Ducati's Hypermotard. Although, I prefer the ergo of Ducati's Hypermotard.

Honestly, you just have to demo it. You might like it anyway. I put in about 10 miles on it for a demo, that was about it. It just felt weird but not in a bad way.

If I have cash and a good garage, it'll not stop me from buying it. The engine, man, god, the fucking engine! WILD! I was entering the freeway and open up the throttle, I went from point A to B in a flash missing an exit to get back to Spirit Motorcycle.

Just go demo it, dude.

I'll keep the Dyna thanks.

4 gal tank on a touring bike?

Phony pushrod tubes? That's as much b.s. as Triumph's injected bikes made to look carb'd. There's a reason strippers don't wear padded bras

I'll keep my FXR, and you should definitely keep your Dyna.

But I'd rather walk than ride a Milwaukee 8 powered softail. Fuck that turd.

Couldn't agree more. Spent a year going through the '07 and got a bit out of hand. Justified it because it will be my last H.D. The "new" stuff doesn't work for me either.

Agreed, I thought a 4 gal tank was too small. Of course their baggers/touring models carry more.

[edit] Hmmm, the last model year 2017 Harley Dyna wide glide tank capacity is listed as 4.7 gallons....

Good one! :laughing
