He'd be more successful in WSBK on a competitive ride. Strapped to the Ducati, he's going nowhere.

He's better off doing it sooner rather than later as Dorna looks determined to undermine the success that WorldSupers is currently enjoying.

Isn't this the last year for the current FireBlade that Johnny Rae is riding? Maybe a new V-4 Honda Superbike under him would be interesting.

I believe once you step down from MotoGP you are pigeonholed and would have a very, very difficult time to get back in GP.

actually, i'd like him to go for a grand slam while he can

"grand slam?"

I actually rather see him retire. Too many young guys on hot bikes in WSBK, anything other than the KAW, HON, APR is going to be uncompetitive. I think DUC may be pushing him toward WSBK, but their bike is not in the hunt (ask Carlos Checa.) Last race weights & restrictorns were removed, didn't help at all...

He can still finish top 10 every race in MotoGP, even on a uncompetitive bike= stay another year then retire (if he handled his money/investments properly.)

Winning all four in the AMA: Flat Track Mile, Flat Track Half Mile, Flat Track TT, Roadrace (Superbike). Hayden just needs a Mile win for the Grand Slam and he was really close at Del Mar, IIRC.

This.

Hayden is smart, he has made a career out of racing bikes. He would only consider moving to WSBK if it was the right move financially. I think he realized he has grown long in the tooth at Ducati, they will likely release him and there is no where to go. Tech3 might work if Cal left, but that won't pay him what he needs. So he is considering WSBK. With the right ride, you can easily get back to MotoGP. Look at Cal & Spies, it was their stepping stone.

Besides, Nicky will prob be more competitive again and that is also fueling this decision. Money AND glory? It's a no brainer!

Well that, and the fact his contract with Ducati is over after this year. Can't stay in MotoGP if you ain't got no damn job! :p

I'm all for it

It's no secret that Moto GP guys do FAR better going to WSBK than SBK guys do going to GP (I still think Barros winning a race on a stock Honda was pretty awesome in 2005). That said, and the fact that he would be the first to win BOTH titles, would motivate me. I'd do it. It's not a walk in the park as Checa and Biaggi would both tell you but your reality for a crown is far more likely than a WSBK honed rider. As for the "Grand Slam", that would really be something if he could pull it off: Moto GP, WSBK, AND Grand Slam Dirt Track winner. I'll say this, (Bad) Max mentioned he was having a LOT more fun when he went to WSBK and look what the inspiration did for him- 2 titles. Sykes is making that Kawasaki look better than it is, I would venture to guess. At least there are a bevy of bikes that are not too far off the mark when it comes to choosing one, unlike GP, where you basically have four flyers/spaceship/alien bikes- two Hondas, two yams (for now) -and a WHOLE lot of filler (crap).
