Glenn's obituary.

Glenn Owen Patterson
January 16, 1992- September 16, 2016

Glenn joined our world January 16, 1992. Twenty four years later on September 16, 2016 he rode to the next world on a motorcycle in Calaveras County. He was doing what he loved that day.

Glenn attended Los Paseos Elementary, Encinal and Martin Murphy Middle Schools graduating Sobrato High School in 2010. On target for graduation in the Spring of 2017, he was currently in his senior year attending UC Davis pursing a double major in Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering.

Quiet, but ever observant, he was a good friend to many. His warm, sometimes smirky smile, pithy comments and sense of humor gave joy to everyone. Often anticipating when help was needed he was kind, gentle and patient with his Grandpa Ted and it showed through as well when he interacted with young kids who were attracted to him by his bearish size , hearty laugh and big heart.

He was involved over his lifetime in a variety of active challenges which included swimming, baseball, ice hockey, snow skiing, scuba diving, snow boarding, golf, football, boating, wake surfing, motorcycles, and all manner of outdoor fun that usually included his friends and family. He was gifted in music, especially playing the baritone saxophone. He also enjoyed video gaming with his brother and friends. He was the Commissioner of his fantasy football league which was good natured but highly competitive amongst his friends. At times he could be found streaming up to eight games at once.

Glenn is survived by his parents Bradley and Katrina Patterson, brother John, and grandmother Mary Reynolds, as well as various aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

All are welcome to attend graveside services planned for Sunday September 25th, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Mt. Hope Memorial Park, 250 Spring Avenue, Morgan Hill, California 95037 followed by a memorial luncheon and gathering at 11:00 a.m. Los Paseos Clubhouse, 7047 Via Ramada, San Jose, California 95139.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made on-line to the Bay Area Riders Forum http://bayarearidersforum.com/donate/ Please put "Glenn" in the description.

Donations by mail can by sent to Net Extreme Sports (PM me for more information). Please put Glenn in the memo. The proceeds will be used for new rider training and education.

A shame to lose such a promising and kind young man. Condolences to Glenn's parents, brother, grandmother and extended family. Glenn's ability to make such a profound impact on those who had only briefly met and interacted with him speaks volumes regarding his personality and the magnitude of your loss.
So sorry.

Pretty sure we spent some time chatting at Weaverville. Wish I'd had the chance to get to know you better, Glenn.

That's a great obituary and further proves Glenn and I would have been fast friends.

Beyond impressive how Glenns parents and family are embracing Glenns love of motos, appreciating BARF and improving rider education in his name.

Just when I think I'm done crying I start again. Thank you for sharing that. What a wonderful family.

Same here :( Thank you for sharing that budman.

It really speaks volumes about how wonderful his family is. It's so great that they're using the memory of Glenn to help others in that way.

Can't see the keyboard through the tears :( he was on a berryessa group ride we talked at busters and we hung out at the chevron in Rockville on the way back,he was a nice guy. When you part ways you kinda figure you'll meet up again on another ride sometime then tragedy strikes, so sad for everyone

Obituary painted an excellent picture of him, and I was one not rich in having met him.

Condolences to the family...

Katrina asked me to pass on her thanks for the emails. She will respond after the memorial. As you can imagine she is busy getting ready and settling Glenn's affairs. :(

Every email.. I almost breakdown. :cry

She sent me this picture from his middle school magazine project "Bike Rider"
This was an advertisement he made for the magazine....

Godspeed Glenn. I didn't have the honor of meeting you, but I'm sure we would have been friends. My condolences to his family and friends and those that were riding with him.

I've been texting back and forth with Katrina this morning. She requested that I send her the picture of Glenn at the *$ rally point in this threads opening post via email, which I've done.

I'd like to ask all of you to look for any other pictures of Glenn that you might have taken during other BARF group rides and post those to this thread. She'd like to include those in Sunday's memorial if we can find them.

Thanks.
