first crash yesterday on 9 and now Bikey needs help!

As she said it was a mistake after a long & tiring day of riding.

I too blame the group ride organizer.:x

Anh, make it a "streetfighter"!!! aka- naked, no fairings, diff headlights, blinkers & mirrors.:thumbup

yeah, I didn't trust my ability enough to think that I could turn and lean more to make my way out. So I chose to use those last second to slow down and bike the dirty instead.

When you take up dirt biking, what you said above will become not only normal but encouraged! Good luck to you Anh.

You, you went fast so I folllowed you flying and hence I thought I was invincible for 5 months of riding.
You :mad I now solemnly blame you. I'm going to write my declaration of war.

Anh,
For the mirrors and blinkers, you can find anything that will screw into the holes on your fairings.

I would try local first, craigslist and barf "parts" section. Then in fremont http://www.fremontcycle.com , they have huge boxes in the back room where you can look for parts. Ask someone to help you, i guarantee you they will.

Ebay will yield lots of parts if you are willing to wait.

Then like the other have said : www.bikebandit.com and www.ronayers.com for complete oem stuff. Obviously this is going to more expensive, but it will be exactly what you are looking for.

good luck.

he IS now NAKED!:party
Took him awhile to agree with me. He's a bit camera shy now after being stripped...but soon I'll post his new look.
Still such a hot madness to me...

gone for now
do you want it to look like a traditional naked bike (ie a gs500e), or do you want to put on a different headlight? you can get a 7" round light for very little money if you want to go that way.

the headlight works just fine so I want to keep it. It's just the part underneaht (black plastic part) that got broken so the headlight is not really stable. I'm just afraid that it may fall apart due to the wind and such if I ride like this for more.

5 seconds??? With that much time, you could have stopped, parked the bike, and walked over to the mountain, put your head down and run into it like a billy goat, thus saving the injury to your bike.

Seriously, I'm glad you're OK. But methinks you need to slow down until your skills develop further. By all reports, that sounds like a totally and completely preventable crash.

I think it was 5 sec, but I dont know. Maybe less time than that...lolz, but I think the crucial time before the crash always seemed to be so long...

Now don't drag me to the track YET!!

Why not? The track lacks mountains, SUVs blowing yellows, deer, diesel spills... it's a great place to learn the right habits with fewer consequences than on the street.

When you take up dirt biking

+1!! Again, it'll build your skills and help you react to unexpected situations.

I have a pair of SV650 mirrors that will work on a GS500 without that headlight fairing. The whole top bit, including the headlight, is one piece, so you'll have to mount up an aftermarket headlight (or an E headlight) as mentioned unless you want to have this goofy look going:

Glad to hear you are ok. You can only go up from here, in terms of skill. Might be a little shaky the next ride, but you can learn a lot from one crash. Hope to get to ride with you soon! Hope you get your bike fixed soon. :teeth

You will need to replace it.
Check also that your upper fairing bracket is also probably bent. The plastic bends and bounces back and aluminum doesn't.
