With all the BA stories about stolen helmets, pi$$ed in lids, and all sorts of gear to bikes appropriated by homeless snowflakes,

Maybe,

Just maybe,
this couple were victims of "borrowed" gear?

This pix looks like a normal day in any state but a nanny state.

FLCL?
Just another couple of snowflakes who think laws don't apply to them. Probably blew all their money on a shiney tractor, and couldn't afford the helmets. :(

In Dublin no helmet or gloves. Idaho plates I believe. Looks like he wants to get hurt.

Having lived my entire motorcycle career in California (40 years), it took me a long while to get use to seeing riders without helmets after I moved. I've become acclimatized now and it barely gets a second glance.

Slightly different take on this. I know it's ride your own ride - for the rider. For the passenger, there's a totally different dynamic at play. As someone who rides two-up a lot on a Harley boater I feel the safety of my passenger is my responsibility. If that was my lady I would not let her ride without a lid - that's just bad karma and putting lifestyle over common sense. This is just my personal opinion.

So this thread isn't about hearing loss?

I can't believe you missed something so obvious.

Let me give you a hint: Check out the guy in the front's neck. White. Check out his hands. Same color. Apparently there's no glove law in their state.

I didn't stick around to see what happened, but there were quite a few police a bit further down directing traffic around a construction zone, so I'm willing to bet they are in a whole heap of trouble right now.

For what it's worth, I ride this section of freeway (between Vallejo and Oakland) just about every day, and I've yet to go more than a week without seeing a motorcycle incident of some kind. These two are just asking for it.
and it is their business to do so, i don't think they should be riding like this either but i also don't think that i or anyone else has the right to tell them how they need to ride or protect themselves, just my opinion

I heard in some midwestern states they have an eye protection law but no helmet law though.

True. IL, MN, SD, ND and even TX require eye protection. I can't remember if there was a minimum grade of eye protection, but regular spectacles used to be good enough.

Looks like they're having fun. I'd rather see people their age doing it, than some 20-somethig punk who doesn't really appreciate the freedoms he's abusing.

And I really doubt most cops give a shit. A few years ago I rode 30 minutes down the highway w/o helmet because someone stole it.

It's a fix-it ticket because the helmet law is under the equipment of the division of the Vehicle Code. That is the basis under which Quigley got many of his tickets dismissed.

He was no hero, though. He treated women like absolute shit, was condescending toward anyone who he perceived was not in total agreement with him and had zero tact when addressing the legislature regarding helmet laws. His confrontational behavior hurt everyone who was trying to get the helmet law repealed.

Even before there was a helmet law if California I always wore a helmet, just to uncomfortable with all the bugs, rocks, and crap hitting my face. Causes me no pain if folks want to flaunt the law and ride bare headed. Just not MY thing.

Rode without a helmet in Utah for the first time in my adult life and it was awesome. We'd just gotten back on pavement after a few dirty days and were crusing through Zion NP without lids. I loved every moment of it. Once we got back out of the park at traffic went about 35, we stopped to put our helmets back on.

I'd love the opportunity to run without a helmet for a quick jaunt to the corner store or something of the like.

I saw riders & passengers in Houston (not during Harvey) on the highway wearing bathing suits & bikinis. :facepalm
