[edited]..... I refuse to insult the many talented and very hard working riders and crew participating in AMA Pro Road Racing (including many BARFers) by constantly running down the series as a whole......

again, you are correct - please note that I am in NO way running down riders, crews or the teams or.....well, really anyone other than Jim France and the Ownership/Management of DMG

AMA Pro feet on the ground these days are mostly super folks -
& despite all the deserved [& residual] race-to-race complaints, AMA Pro's behavior is WAY better than previous AMA history

DMG runs AMA Pro Flat Track too, and AMA Pro FT is doing better than it has in years.

Very true. I was at Sac mile two years ago and santa rosa last year. Packed house. I remember going to the sac mile as a kid and it was dead.

Not as fast as I look.

Perhaps separating out loyalties would serve you and your compadres better. Just because one's significant other works for and is dependent on "Douchebag Company X", does not diminish the quality of, nor your feelings for, that person. Improving the racing venue will do more good for the racers than just inhaling DMG exhaust and getting dizzy with love.

Much (Most? All?) of the credit for the successful return of AMA Pro Flat Track to Northern California goes to promoter Bob Bellino who put his $$ on the line to bring back the Sacramento Mile, Calistoga Half-Mile and Santa Rosa Mile. Tons of hard work went into making the all these sold-out events great.

I'd respond if I understood any of what the hell you just said.

Subtle gloves OFF. The best thing for the racers is to have a healthy RR series with lots of attendance, TV coverage and sponsors. You don't want to say bad things about the organization that made it WORSE for the people you CLAIM to care about. I think you are misguided.

I agree DMG has failed to deliver on many of their promises. They don't even hold themselves to their self-imposed deadlines for announcing schedules. And the TV issue this year is unforgiveable.

I've said plenty of bad things about the current administration of AMA Pro Road Racing in this and other threads. I just stated I won't lump the riders and teams in with those criticisms. I typed this really slowly to make it easier for you to read. :teeth

Think you are missing what he is saying... Riders picked their noses and did nothing but look the other way when the series started to fail. Some left, others complained but most did nothing.

I myself have been saying for YEARS, a group of the older riders needs to get together and form a.... "riders union" type deal. So they still have say in what happens to a race series. Because in todays age... they have ZERO power because they choose not to act but to ride. I'm not saying it would have prevented what we have today but I'm pretty sure it would be nowhere near as bad as it currently is.

Oh, I forgot all about THAT declaritive, when you went off on Mr. Buell.

Unfortunately, it is much worse than your statement. At a time when the economy was suffering, DMG with sanction from AMA, comes along and tells the manufactures and the fans, "we know what is best, so buggar off". While giving H.D. a break is nothing new to AMA racing, things went a bit too far. And Daytona Bikes was an utter flop. They were completely arrogant NASBIKEees, and payed no attention to what mattered. So the manufactures and the fans, said, "whatever you think, smartipants. Bye, bye".

Ben Spies wouldn't have been anybody without manufacture support. Getting some world recognition is pretty tough when you push out the people who build/fund world class motorcycle racing. It was a terrible course of action for the AMA racers.

Matt Mladin stood up for what was right, sidewazzz. I just don't think anyone else has the clout NOR the guts to do that in AMA RR, anymore. And the "old guys" were busy threatening to quit the AMA Hall of Fame if THEIR guy didn't get in. Gee, thanks for the respect to the fans, you self-centered wheel-weights.

He talked big game but in the end ate his worlds and rode on the "crappy bike". :laughing

Wait a minute. I think we are trying to date the wrong biker. Buelly is like the girl that bitches about her boyfriend, but when you do it, then she tells you to shut up or tries to slash your tires. Women. :laughing

I was thinking more of the tracks that he refused to ride because they were unsafe. Remember Loudon?
