yeah Martin tried a few passes in the horseshoe but got held off

Herrin got an amazing drive off the final turn and held it out

Yes in deedy Herrin nailed it. And I'd rather see him win, than anyone else :thumbup

The other guy did screw up, Thank God..that wheelie, and he said a spin at the rear tire...sure showed.

Can't imagine driving all the way to Daytona, only bringing 2 built motors for each of your riders, then sitting around when they both blow up. A couple thoughts come to mind if that is the case:

1. If you are one of the riders, boy are you pissed! Nothing worse than watching the guys you want to kick the snot out of riding when you should be out there.

2. The engine builder has one hell of an ego. Wow, you brought only your super sweet fast motors and they all blew. Good job. :applause

3. The team owner/manager or whatever should be fired, for not bringing a couple stock motors, so that the entire effort isn't a complete waste. If it's their money, expensive lesson.
Totally agree & seen it before. (history lesson) back in the 70's, little Richie Oliver & the "Rising Sun Engineering" bike (wrench/team owner Rich Rigdon) went to Daytona w/just the 78' KZ1000, which promptly blew it's guts out on the banking (known to be hard on engines!)

They would have had to sit out the 200 if it were not for the generosity of a local street rider, who gave them an unmodified stock engine out of his street bike so they could race. They were able to run, but were not in the top 10 due to non-competitive HP.

Lesson learned. Never drive 3000 miles to Daytona w/o a few backup engines. the following year they went w/3 engines. The hot one in the bike, a mild one & a stocker in the van. Turned out they blew the hot one again, & used the mild one for the race. Not sure, but I think Richard cracked the top 10 IIRC.

History lesson over....

Don't look if you want to watch tomorrow and be surprised.

Pretty awesome :thumbup

Bobby Fong.... Podium
Elena top 10

Cam ..rocking them all:thumbup
More spoiler commentary......
Holy Awesome, 2 women in the top 10.:banana:banana
Yamahas rule, but the Triumphs suck in all but ones hand.....that in itself is an amazing feat considering where the rest of them finished.
Congrats to Beaubier and Bobby Fong!:thumbup

Not as fast as I look.
Where is "number 6"? Six Californians in top ten. Six Yamahas. Another six, and I would be convinced that AMA/DMG was going to have a BIG attendance year.

Nice to see so many CA riders in the top 10, & 2 women too! :teeth

But gawd, what a snorer of a race. Cameron pulled away & hid...lapped all the way up to 5th place, & Steve Rapp stayed unlapped only because he let him...zzzzzz

What has become of our favorite roadrace? :cry

At least we get to remember the glory days where the grids were filled with talent and more than 4 competitive bikes were in fashion too.

That was my viewpoint as well.. Didn't enjoy watching it, and a lot of that, I blame on Speed channel...the picture "quality" is no quality.
Pixelated fuzz, I can't recognize the racers.

And...the show is edited before broadcast...Do they not have any passing, action on Digital memory?

The only thing that kept me watching, was keeping track of Elena Myers position as she ticked off her positions, gaining from mid pack to 10th spot.

But did they show it? No..it was just checking the position board, that was showing it.

There was some good footage of pit stops. that also showed the difference between crews..Serious difference.

Holy crap, there were more people milling arround on the grid then in the stands!?

oh, so you were watching DMG-era Daytona road racing?

I'd bet there were more butts in the seats at the 2 nites of short track races than at The 200 !

DMG runs AMA Pro Flat Track too, and AMA Pro FT is doing better than it has in years.

I didn't know that... Did hey also tell the manufactors to fack off? Did they introduce a pace car that almost killed the racers? Did they change the races were ran and turn the middle class into the show?

Not yet. :laughing It took them a couple of years but FT is on the upswing even though it still has a long way to go to make it as strong as it could be. I'd suggest they put some of the FT team to work on road racing administration but that seems to just be a meat grinder for anyone who attempts to do anything. And remember, the OLD AMA came a lot closer to killing riders at Daytona with pace cars more than once.

of course, you are correct - I was too sweeping in my expression

--------------------------------------------DMG's failure to deliver on major promises [purse, major new sponsors, etc.] & DMG's near-outright destruction of professional road racing SUX !! ---------------------------------------------------------

separately, your assessment of the AMA Pro personnel present at GNCs is spot on -
the instant mix of Morehead, Luddington & others has become productive

AMA Pro dirt track races are run per schedule - the uniformed AMA Pro folks lined up on course, at both dirt & paved start/finish areas, is impressive

finally, isn't SuperCross still autonomous?
sanctioned by AMA Pro, but run by Feld?

Its OK to use normal paragraph structure. :teeth

I agree DMG has failed to deliver on many of their promises. They don't even hold themselves to their self-imposed deadlines for announcing schedules. And the TV issue this year is unforgiveable.

However, I refuse to insult the many talented and very hard working riders and crew participating in AMA Pro Road Racing (including many BARFers) by constantly running down the series as a whole.

Yes on Supercross.
