I'm bringing this back!
Anyone know of a person that'll change tires in San Jose?
Preferably near SJSU.

Contact Josh/Wicked4Racin here on Barf.

Josh is a good guy. Ring him up.

Another option is MotoGuild on Auzerais near downtown. Patrick will teach you how to use their tire machine. May take more time the first time, but will save you time & money in the future.

Also, a bit further away is Santa Clara Cycle.

I've had Josh help me with bikes before but I don't think that he'll be an option for me.
Great guy.
Thanks for the tips, y'all!

I'd be riding on super old tires, close as possible would be great.

Any recommendations to shops or local wrenches?

Also, I'd rather find a shop with reasonable prices for the time being for a tire and chain replacement. I'd love to pick up the skills for both, just not now. :ride

I would need to learn how to remove my wheels in a parking lot... I dunno if I'm down for that.

Thanks!

I could meet you down there with tools & a helping hand, but I'm booked for Monday thru Weds. Thursday or Friday are open. Gimme a shout if you need. :thumbup

I've always used Cycle Gear, but they've gotten to the point where it's a several day service. I took a new 18X8.5 wheel and 240 tire to them yesterday and they told me "tomorrow afternoon" because there was 4 ahead of me. "But....it's 10:30am" I commented. She told me "yeah, we book up pretty quickly". My 10:30am comment wasn't about how many people came in, it was the fact that it literally takes less than 5 minutes per tire, I know, I used to do tires all day long.

My point is, I went to the place just up the street called DNA Motoring, and they did the tire right then and there, guess what...took less than 5 minutes.

They're not cheap (actually more than everyone else I've ever had mount a tire). It cost $35, but sometimes time is a greater factor than cost. On a side note, their tech did an amazing job hiding the weights too.

Not an "awesome price" shop, but definitely a much faster shop than some of the others in the hayward area.

It comes down to what you think your time is worth. :thumbup

Definitely agree! Everything is perceived value. My time is money, yesterday $15 for not waiting a day was a deal in my eyes. :)

But.........had they said $40, I would have just dropped it off at cycle salvage for a few hours :laughing
