Tire Changer set up

LOL seems appropriate

http://bayarearidersforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=424144

no-scuff tool about $ 80
rubber hoses, plastic, threaded bar, washers and bolts about $ 35
balancer - harbor freight $ 40 or build ur own (I would have had I seen it b4)
cheapest stands seem to be cycle gear when they're on sale (all the time)

an alternative base to the "big ole tree stump" is to use a trailer hitch receiver - cut square holes, the size of a receiver hitch, into the car wheel rim and stick a square tube in it and the other end into the receiver. I'll probably set up something like that when I need it.

By the time I've driven down to the local shop - they charge $ 20 a wheel off the bike - and (more importantly) waited a couple hours for them to change the tires, Ive done it all myself in less than half the time.

First couple of times is a little difficult, but after that its a piece a cake.

EDIT: Oh, and I found a couple of pretty big gouges inside my rims, and the only shop to ever have changed them is the local shop. They are all pretty good guys there. Just goes to show, we're all human. But I haven't scuffed up my rims any more...

EDIT2: If anyone needs tires changed and wants to GIVE IT A TRY THEMSELVES, you're welcome to use on my set up. I'll walk you thru it and give a helping hand where its needed :twofinger
I'm in El Cerrito :cool

hey guys and gals, i have a no mar at my place in el sobrante. If you bring the tire to us, $15/tire, or we can drive to your place for $30/per tire. Saturdays and Sunday only, I do have a life. lolz. We got the tail hitch for the no mar, so its portable. Let me know what you guys think.

Damn if you weren't 120 miles away I would take you up on that. I have a set of tires I am needing mounted. Rims off the bike, rear rim is all ready bare. Front needs dismount and mount new tire.

Email Dave - no-scufftiretool.com - and ask him if anyone near you bought the tool. Hit them up. You never know. Or just buy the bar. It'll pay for itself in two changes. The only drawback is that you don't get to hang out at the shop chewing the fat with other guys waiting to get their tires changed :)

I personally go to the 's' shop in pacifica, they charged me $70 for a ride in tire change pretty fair considering you can just drop and go. Jeff and chaun do great work, with their racing background they also suspension setups service and rebuilds i highly recommend.

So is this guy not in business anymore? He was sort of my go-to guy for mounting. Everyone else charges way too damn much as far as i've seen.

Just looked this thread up, had Angel change my tires back in 2011 and haven't found anyone else as cheap. Anyone have suggestions for a tire change either in SF, RWC or MV?

Looked on Yelp and this guy seemed highly recommended (http://www.yelp.com/biz/mototireguy-motorcycle-tire-services-san-francisco-4) but it looks like changing tires on the bike runs a little over $100.

Have my Q3s arriving tomorrow and would like to swap the tires out this week. Nail in the rear tire.
