Anyone going to Sturgis on a sports bike next month?

My whole point in this mess is that we are isolating the wrong people. Traditionally, the sick have been isolated, not the healthy.

While that premise is valid, how do you isolate the sick, when they don't even know they're sick but are still contagious? That's the real issue, if everybody was tested daily with immediate results, then only the people testing positive would need to isolate.

Sadly the "isolated" in senior care facilities got the Virus anyway.

Here it's something like 2/3 of the deaths.

It sure wasn't because they were partying at large events.

But perhaps those coming and going from the facilities were.

Latinos are a large group of the cases here.

Yesterday for the first time since the virus started the middle school soccer field was being used.

Full sides against each other, latino men in their 20s/30s with a decent amount of spectators/family in attendance.

No masks of course.

I think that was not a good idea but you probably do.

Neither of us will be able to change each others' minds.

I think the idea is that folks like Mr. Marklin should isolate as he is at risk and that others should not.

Don't see how that slows the spread to be honest.

As many "healthy" individuals are the ones prone to not distance and wear masks.

Now...if AFM can get a date for a race...I'll be there to watch...but in a multi layer mask, very socially distant and sleeping in my van...but I'm still guessing that the whole season is AWOL...not even sure there would be a 2021 season...

We already had an event and we have another one scheduled for this coming weekend at Buttonwillow. :thumbup

We have had many other flues. People died. I don't perceive this one to be much worse than what has gone before.

Lol legit I will take the word of epidemiologists who were initially wrong and corrected themselves rather than some rando antiintellectual BARFers and anecdotal stories.

The anti maskers/anti shelter people were wrong about it in the 1st stages and they'll be wrong about Sturgis as well.

You guys should all re-read this thread and pay attention to the passive aggressive insults and shaming/finger pointing.

Sturgis is happening, and it will be what it is. It's a bummer if you're in the camp that doesn't like it, and it's awesome if you're in the camp that likes it.

The two viewpoints are pretty well established at this point, and attempting to influence either one seems to be a fool's errand. We'd all be happier if we thought about that before speaking/posting/interacting.

This ^^^ :thumbup

I have been wanting to do this for years - one of my bucket list rides

Maybe I would have been there for a couple of days or just a hour - who knows

But 2020 is a bust for most of my riding plans :ride

Well, it seems like some attendees are indeed taking the Virus into consideration with their planning.

STURGIS, S.D. (KOTA) - "The 80th Sturgis Motorcycle Rally doesn’t officially start until Friday but it seems bikers and tourists are showing up early.

“We planned it,” said Tammy Owens and Jim Kalbflesh, from West Virginia.

“We hit Badlands on the way and now we’re going to go over to Deadwood and visit there, Mount Rushmore tomorrow and then head to Wyoming.

We wanted to check this place out, get some T-shirts, make sure that we’re here before the crowd gets here.”

Early visitors also say it’s a chance to enjoy but stay away from the expected big crowds as the pandemic lingers."

I intended for my insults to be aggressive/aggressive.
I must be slipping. I'll work on it.

If I was a resident I'd certainly leave town.

Some 60% of Sturgis residents, when surveyed, told the city they'd rather the event not proceed as scheduled this year.

"I fear that I will live in my house for a month after this if not six months after this until it all clears," said the resident, who spoke on the condition of anonymity in fear of retaliation.

"There are people from other states coming here that have had massive breakouts in their cities and in their states and they're coming here and they're traveling here in RVs," the resident said. "You don't think they're going to bring it here to the state and get local residents infected?"

The resident told CNN they have several family members, most of whom are older, that live in the city as well.

"My grandma is absolutely terrified because she has diabetes and is in her 80s and has lupus," they said. "If she gets it, it's a death sentence."

Don't disagree at all. Some are going to challenge others with differing opinions. Throwing out an opinion is all good. Attacking ones character because of theirs kind of sucks, but the internet makes that so easy and in some cases fun?? I suppose for those that do it.
