Would any other AFM members be interested in having a members meeting Saturday evening at Sonoma? Not a bitch session but a meeting to gather opinions and then have those opinions taken to the board?

This would NOT be a "Board Meeting" simply members gathering to have their opinions heard and forwarded to the board.

I am happy to set it up and take the flak for it, I have heard from several members that they are unhappy with some of the direction or lack of direction the club is taking.

I for one cannot get to board meetings so this would be an avenue to express opinions and ideas for the betterment of the club. Open to ALL AFM members, bring your own beer :teeth

Topics for discussion so far 04/17/2014

Organization and plans for expanding the club membership?

Club promotion in the local area? Plan to get more spectators out to the races.

How to attract more sponsors to AFM? More coverage of the events?

Alumni membership? We already have Associate membership do we need another level?

How do we get former members back to the club to help out and enjoy what we have going?

Marketing plan/ideas to market the AFM experience to riders around the Northern CA, Northern NV and further?

1. Post/email/whatever the agenda 72 hours prior to the meeting.
2. Record the BoD meetings.

Feels like we, the members, can help to promote our club and work towards getting money flowing back in again.

I think having the meeting at an actual race round would get more people to attend. You can do them right in the drivers lounge.

Just want to clarify, this is not intended to be a AFM Board meeting. Only a meeting of members airing their concerns :thumbup

Count me in. I have been to a 3 board meetings. and they have all have lasted till 11:00pm. I get up at 4:30am for work and can't attend every one, because they go on so late.

Maybe we can get answers to questions. Tech should be there too. Maybe we should have a few meetings that are official on some Saturday Night race weekends.

This now posted 6 hours ago on Facebook's AFM Page:

American Federation of Motorcyclists (AFM)

The purpose, goal and intent of the American Federation of Motorcyclists Facebook page is to create positive exposure for the club, to provide announcements, publish visual imagery, photographs or videos, promote our partnering companies, class and club sponsors and to create excitement about the AFM and motorcycle racing on the west coast.

We recognize that a number of people have questions about the upcoming event and we are trying to provide information to you to the best of our ability and as soon as information becomes available.

We also recognize that some members have concerns that aren't being presently addressed. This Facebook page is not the appropriate forum to address these concerns. Concerns can be directed via email to afm@afmracing.org and will be forwarded to the appropriate person or answered as timely as possible.

Thank you,

The AFM

Alan,

I applaud your effort for facilitating this meeting at the Sonoma race. As a board member, I recognize that not all of your concerns are being addressed and I recognize that not everyone has the ability to make the regular board meetings.

You as the membership are certainly free to hold your own meetings and discuss whatever concerns you. As Alan pointed out, so long as the meetings are constructive I think there could be much gained by an exchange of information.

Having said that - if possible (not tied up with other responsibilities at the Sonoma race) I will attend this meeting, provide information when possible or appropriate and I will take note of member's concerns. If I am not able to attend, I will gladly accept any notes and take them under consideration.

Respectfully submitted,

Tim

I think one thing that would be beneficial would be to solicit topics/ideas for discussion prior to the meeting. Having an agenda will help make it more constructive and less of a free for all.

Good idea.

Anyone who has a topic they would like to discuss please post up here and I will collate them into an agenda of sorts.

Alan, do you guys want me to see if the Driver's lounge will be available? What time are you guys thinking? It's going to be a pretty busy weekend, but there may be facilities you guys can use.
