+1! :ride

... some gnarly rock crawling on Fordyce Jeep trail ...
looks like you were on the right bike ... do you carry gas?

... love seeing those trials bikes
the guys in ID modify for trail riding ... :party

I carried gas, but did not need it. I'm guessing I did only about 15 miles.
An old ADV rider thread about a guy exploring in Idaho, on a trials bike, was the spark for me. The technical stuff is fun, and the speed is about right for me.
Exploring.

If I could justify it I'd run up to Petaluma today and purchase a GasGas Contact.

Planning a trip on the UTBDR this fall. Last week I did a short camping trip to test bike with load and rider with bike. Rode from La Honda, CA south to Hollister OHV park, then over on La Gloria Rd and Nacimiento-Fergusson Road to Pacific Coast Highway and north back to La Honda.

Bowman redux

Back to Bowman area on the DRZ and XR4 last Saturday for a day ride.

First is the Dry Creek Crossing..

Ok, not really like that, but I started out at the dry creek crossing by doing this..

Back on the road to Bowman..

The bikes at Bowman

We rode down to Jackson Meadows Reservoir and hooked down Henness Pass Road to a quick break at Milton reservoir

Some nice camping spots at Milton

More Bowman

After having a snack we found a fun loop back.

A lot to explore up there. Some of the roads are nice like this -

But a lot are nice like this -

The road past Bowman is really pretty.

We almost made it back to the truck when my XR4 suddenly lost power and I could only get about 1/8 throttle before it bogged and died. I managed to limp it about 8 miles back to the truck. When I got home I contacted my XR4 support network and when I looked in the bowl I found this.

Time for a carb cleaning..

Can't wait to get back up there for some more exploring.

I hear you on that Tami. I was going over pictures in our Sierra's tour. Man I took that old ATK into some inapproriate places on that trip.

Great pics Mike! There is a fire lookout in that area(Grouse Ridge) that I want to check out. Who wants to go?
