I was up in Quincy for the "non-rally" and the BARF presence was notable for its absence. :x
My route up on Friday was San Leandro to Nevada City, CA, where I met up with my wife's cousin & her husband, had lunch at Three Forks Bakery & Brewing (
http://www.threeforksnc.com/), & on to Quincy via Rt 49, S620 (Gold Lake Hwy), 89, & 70. Somewhere along the route was a rest area with a large freshwater spring waterfall, great tasting water and COLD... Perfect for resting, rehydrating, & refreshing chill vests. :teeth
Saturday was westbound on 70 & north on Pentz Road (boring & hot) to Paradise where we paid our respects at the memorials & visited a friend's now-obliterated home (he & his wife & daughter abandoned everything & got out before Hell arrived, now living in Boca Raton), then up to Magalia, Inskip, Butte Meadows, Camp Lassen, Forest Ranch, then north on 32 to 89/36, lunch in Chester, then 36, A13, 147 down the east side of Lake Almanor, then 89 to 70 & into Quincy.
The road from Butte Meadows to Forest Ranch was four miles of fire roads. :teeth My wife's cousin was on a Honduh Rebull 500 & her hubby was on a 2014 BMW RT. He'd never done dirt before and with a little encouragement, had a blast. Didn't air down the tires, everything was streetable. Nice thing was to have all three of us on Cardo Packtalks hooked into a mesh network where we could talk & point out landscape attractions. :thumbup
Sunday was GTFO before the heat-hammer showed up. :teeth Rt 70 down to 89 to Truckee, then 80 eastbound & down, rolling out & trucking through Sacto (106F!!) and home. Long cool drink(s) & bath after to bring core temps down...
Overall, a fine time.
arty :teeth
The roads were awesome, the company (my wife's cousin & her husband) was great and we had a blast. :teeth
Great views, great food (Moon's restaurant & Quintopia brewpub), and not killer hot weather for the most part. Chill vests all around, numerous stops to hydrate & re-soak the chill vests & neck gaiters. :thumbup
