Doug demuro annoys the fuck out of me :laughing

He's just an uber nerd. His content is usually pretty good and at least he typically gets the technical stuff right, versus some of the other You Tubers who really know little to nothing about the cars they 'review'. His delivery bugs me too, but I often struggle through it just to get his content.

Now, Shmee...

Saw a meme about SuperCarBlondie recently where it just posted her picture and a sarcastic looking guy going "Congratulations, you read the brochure."

Won't click on any car review video were the thumbnail is of some dork with a gaping mouth and outstretched arms looking like a tool. Yeah like that Shmee guy. Just not interested.

Wow. That guy is painful to listen to / watch.

Scotty is a guy who’s probably taken in just a little too many exhaust fumes over his 40-50 years turning wrenches (forgot the exact amount of years, but you can find out by watching any one his videos for more than a few minutes...he’s all to happy to remind you). But he’s also some kind of mad genius. Now I personally find him beyond annoying and won’t click on any of his shit videos anymore. But somehow this kook has managed to be probably one of the biggest if not the biggest automotive channel on YouTube. And I honestly don’t see the appeal. More importantly, I can see how blatantly fucking click baity this guy is. And such a flip flopper too. One week it’s a video of “Ford has changed the world” and the next week it’s “this is why I’ll never own a Ford” or something like that.

But. This clown probably makes more off one year of youtube now than I’ll probably earn my entire career turning wrenches. Hmmm. I’ve got a GoPro. I ought to do this shit too.

I have watched parts of some of his videos and dude is straight up full of poo in some regards. Unwatchable.

Doug is just a big dork that somehow is making great money doing this. His delivery is terrible, but he is way more genuine than most “bought and paid for” youtubers like Schmee is now. Doug hardly ever goes to the press launches where the manufacturer pays to fly you out, puts you up, gives you a per diem, and puts on a whole dog and pony show. I’ve heard him interviewed by Matt Farrah (someone who does take advantage of all that shit), and Doug said that he doesn’t do it because he doesn’t want to feel obligated to a manufacturer to not shit on a car because they were so nice to him.

The only consistent takeaway from Scotty is that Toyota’s are reliable. Which is not exactly some kind of super duper insider only secret.

And that is why I stopped watching YouTubers like Redline Reviews. He plays nice to keep getting access to press launches and cars.

I don't mind Savagegeese though.

As for Doug, I want to punch him in his quirks and features.

52 years...

But you guys keep making this about Scotty...

:)thumbup and that's injecting good entertainment value to the thread - he claims to be a millionaire and making over $1000/day doing what he does.)

...when in fact the story is that every 2020 vette is being recalled for a silly safety issue like the front trunk lid randomly popping open, or popping open at speed because key FOB button got knocked, or both? and some additional :laughing about it.

I’m having trouble buying that the key fob is the cause.

My C6 trunk latch won’t pop unless the parking brake is engaged. The same goes for my current or past cars. None will pop the latch if the car is in gear (auto), or parking brake isn’t engaged.

When they were introducing the car last year and I saw that the C8’s “hood” didn’t have a mechanical safety catch like pretty much every other hood ever, yeeesh. That seemed like an accident waiting to happen. I guess some of those Corvette engineers have never heard of a little thing Murphy’s Law.

Surprised they didn’t make the front trunk fold forward.
