Come on folks... take a minute to support this.

Saying I don't have an electric bike or I don't ride off road is a point of "life is about me".

If you are a motorcyclist we share the life.. the two wheel life and I would love to have you share that passion with me and others who want to move that forward to benefit more than just ourselves.

Thanks in advance.

from the AMA http://americanmotorcyclist.com/Home/News-Story/ama-news-and-notes-october-2016 rag:

SAN JOSE, Calif. – A zero-emissions off-highway-vehicle park is being touted by Dean Stanford, an engineer at Tesla Motors. His Change.org petition calls for city officials to work with the state Department of Parks and Recreation to develop the OHV park on the former site of the San Jose/Santa Clara waste water treatment plant. The city does not plan to develop the site before 2027, so Stanford is pushing the idea of “an interim demo park on the 40-acre plot already designated as recreation, until the majority of the land designated as ‘flexible space’ is available in 2027.” Stanford says the state and a nonprofit “would do all the work, planning, building and operating the park and even reimburse the city for any resources expended.” He started the petition in an effort to show strong community support for the proposal.

I lifted about 65 California MC edresses from the AMA website and send them an email asking to help...

Thanks guys, I don't know, I think we may be tapped out here. Maybe short attention span, IDK ;)

Crap, I've been outed. For the record, I was working on this for a year before I was hired there. Maybe it helped get the job when I wrote about it in the essay the CEO read as required for all hires at the time.

I'm not a zealot, if fact I'm kinda ambivalent. I just want a place to ride in my back yard, near where I used to in the early '80s.

I work on electric cars but my family finally got a couple of oil wells on the old farmstead during the boom after waiting 40+ years. Some family members really need the income and that hasn't done well lately. It was the boom itself that caused the crash, not the tiny fraction of electric vehicles sold.

Here is a bottle of sweet crude I brought back last time I visited. It's thin like water and you can see though it, not the thick black crud you might think. It smells like you could run a diesel on it raw.

If there are any more sympathy signatures please leave at least a one word comment. It's the only way I can show it was local support.

Hopefully we will pick up some more from the 50k emails I am sending out.
I rarely send a mass email out. Very rare. I think our members appreciate that just like they appreciate the lack of advertising too.

Help.

I would try ABC /KTVU 2 vs. NBC.

Assuming you are talking TV news.
NBC has shown they do not like motorcycles.

Elon Musk read your essay? Did he grade it?

I don't know if any particular CEO at any particular company graded my paper but I must have passed :cool Having something like that would be cool though.

I do have a toy car I won at a hat contest at a Nikola Tesla birthday party get-together at a company I was working for. I may consider selling it when I'm in the eating beans phase I mentioned or when people and CEO's leave for Mars.

I have an anecdotal story regarding this park proposal I tell, from a Christmas party at a company I was working for prior to 2011;

At the end of the Christmas party when everybody was tipsy I asked a CEO what he thought of my idea to get a zero emission motorcycle park open on the treatment plant land. He said "It better be zero emission, it stinks over there"! and doubled over laughing his head off. He laughed harder when I told him that a Burger King opened across 880 and only lasted 3 months. One VP walked up and asked what I said to him? I said I don't know!

The smell on 880 is mostly from the garbage dump across the highway from Milpitas.

we need to do this just for the burrowing owl habitat. Surely you guys care about that. They are so cute!

Hey Butch, I think it's just you me and Bud now. We should start our own forum. Everybody else is out riding.

Anyway, that already is official owl habitat and the Audubon Society is doing a great job fostering them. The population is growing while unfortunately declining in most other areas.

I want an owl viewing blind along there if possible for the park. They really are cool critters. I used to see them at the remote control airplane and RC car club in Fremont that's now the new BART station. There were like 5 pairs on the land. A pair lived in the side of one of the dirt berms of the track and they'd pop their adorable giant eyed heads out and watch us race.

so... at the UTC property next to Metcalf they were supposed to tear down the rocket test stands at the end of the lease but... apparently now there are owls there. Damn squatters. We need to build a wall. Or something.

Anyone that good looking deserves a hovel. Or something.

Dudes, sign the petition.

Many thanks to all 122 who have signed! :thumbup The comments are super helpful.

Thanks to all who attended the county meetings and for the comments submitted during the plant land meetings several years ago. It shows how important it is for us to stand up for our sport. I happen to know that expanding Metcalf is of interest to certain people but financial matters are preventing anything currently.

For those who have signed please share the petition! Time is of the essence.

This is a great idea. As an owner of two EVs myself, I can say it is really important to expose people to alternatives to gasoline. Plus, these are virtually silent bikes compared to what people think of motorcycles. This is a very creative and bold vision for a brownfield site. San Jose needs more of this thinking and initiative.

Love biking, MX, and environment

Great use for the land, and great way to promote clean recreational motorcycle riding

The future of OHV!

My daughter is studying to be an environmental engineer and is concerned about our environment!

I support EVs and sustainable energy.

We are in need of more OHV areas in California. I am not sold on the idea of an electric dirt bike yet but maybe this will inspire more technology in that field.

This park will be an awesome way to preserve the land while also giving us a healthy clean family activity.

I have been a proponent of this idea for several years, once electric vehicles became commercially viable

These parks are a huge family builder and more are needed

I'm signing this petition because I think this will be beneficial to the community, Socially and environmentally.

Electric motorcycles are a viable alternative - quiet, and non polluting. Give people a reason to buy one.

Signed.

I can't wait to roost the shit out of those owls!

:laughing Wait, that's not cool :mad How about they get some chickens you can chase around. If you get one, winner, winner, chicken dinner!

When I was a kid we'd get jack rabbits running out in front of our bikes and we'd try to follow. Those buggers can turn on a dime! Never even got close :burnout
