Let's see. 2 car garage, and it's a little wider than most. 2 bikes, bike lift, 3 bike stands, a Honda CT-70 that runs, and a parts CT-70 too. Full size Cincinatti ToolMaster milling machine. Big ole TIG welder. Up until a couple of months ago, a 15 x 48 lathe, but a friend opened a new machine shop and needed to borrow it for a while. It will come back one of these days. The big, giant Stainless Steel Tool box that Home Depot sells. 2 smaller roll around boxes. Washer and Dryer. The rafters are full of Christmas stuff, and my parents' stuff that I can't bring myself to toss out. Cabinets, saws, a freestanding belt sander, pressure washer, drill press, and just all kinds of other shit. The old ladies Cadillac and my Silverado live outside. I wouldn't have it any other way.

what's your address... and do you park cars in the driveway when you're not home?

Motos and other toys stay in the garage. Cars go in driveway.

The reason you see cars in so many driveways out here is because our houses are so damn small, we have to use the garage for storage, white trash man caves, etc.

I park the bike in the garage, and the tools live there too. Car lives outside, and doesn't see much use.

Do you park your car/bike in your garage or is used for other purposes?

I like parking in my garage so I don't have to hose off my windshield in the morning and my car isnt freezing when I got to work BUT the past 6 months I've been parking outside because I've been using my garage for shop space. I'm thinking about buying a table saw, non-portable kind, and would further make it difficult to park in there I think. Tough call.

I've also noticed driving around town, Danville area, that many of the big ass houses around here have cars parked in the driveway like a Lexus commercial. I mean, some 4+ car garages and the cars are all outside. Whats the deal with this? Guess maybe they are using their garages like me.

I don't care about the looks of my car, just that it works. So it stays outside. It is convenient for cars to be parked on the drive way; only time I park in the garage was in other locales where it gets really hot and/or rains/snows way too much.

Fortunately many people realize how much more convenient it is to park in thir driveways, most HOAs don't bother you!

I got so frustrated, I finally got organized. I fit one car and ten work benches in my 20'x21' garage. (No bike, though.) My other two cars and the wife's car get parked outside. But I think it's true for everyone: you've got to find a compromise between storage space and work space.

I also made a shed for stuff that would only be cluttering up the garage. I try to stick to the rule of 'if it doesn't get used in the garage, it shouldn't get stored in the garage.'

I did all the work myself, including setting the tile and digging the pit for the lift. The total budget, including the floor, cabinets, benches and lift was less than $3,500. Everything in the place is second-hand, re-purposed or home-made.

I also made a website for it: http://www.12-gaugegarage.com

And it's got its own a video:

And yes, a video just about the lift I put in:

My Garage Lift

Is it always this clean? No. Not by a long shot. I get a lot of work done in this place.

But it does go back to clean very quickly -- that's the real accomplishment of it, I think. I finally took the time to work out a place for everything to go when It's not being used.

In practice, it makes a huge difference not having to spend so much time looking for things you've misplaced. I spent years doing that. :mad

Confused.....How is it spam, unless of course he's trying to sell something? Doesn't look like it to me.

You don't think he's just spamming for his website? First post on BARF and it just happens to be in a garage thread and he's got a garage website/blog?

Could be, sure......But, tons of other people like to brag and post their rides/blogs/etc.

The real question is whether he sticks around.......Which, I'll admit, is doubtful

I don't mean it as spam. If the moderators think it's out of line, please feel free to delete the post and the pictures.

I included the web site because it's got a bench-by-bench tour of the garage -- more information about how I built most of the stuff you see out of second-hand and damaged stuff. The web site has no commercial component at all. There is no advertising on it. I get no benefit from more visits -- I pay for the thing out of my own pocket.

I posted the pictures and information because I'd been sent a link to the thread by a friend who thought my garage might be interesting in this discussion. I think the shop has a lot of useful ideas for people who are trying to make the most of a small space without a huge budget.

So, to High Side: thanks.

To those of you who think I'm up to something, then my apologies. To me, the garage seemed relevant to the thread. I was already a member here, but I won't post any more. I've got nothing at all to sell and nothing to gain from anyone seeing my garage.
