What the shit is this...
Awesome news. :thumbup

I once hooked up a distributor with the cam 180 degrees out (it used the mark on the crankshaft) on an old Ford 300/6. With enough WD-40 in the intake, it actually started, but blew some hellacious 10 foot fireballs out through the carb. Something about intake valves open on the compression cycle :|

:laughing

whoa, glad to hear it still runs. Honda motors are bulletproof, especially the b-series. I did the valves on my 'teg a few weeks ago. 230k and running juuuust fine.

Just read not too long ago that maybe b series engines have ccts that can fail? Don't remember source but maybe google "cct b series failure"?

GO!!!!!!!!!!
i thought i had bent valves cause after i re-timed the cam & started it it ran like shit. after replacing the cap & rotor it fires right up & behaves normally. it shounds like a POS with a fart can on it right now cause of the blown out cat & holed muffler, but it runs & drives normally. i'm going to order up a water pump, gaskets, tensioner & greddy racing belt just to make sure that its solid from now on. woot!!!!!!

I'm still thinking you need to get this bad boy looked at:

no vtec :hand

mines the 1st gen. it has a D16A1, not the B16.

Nooo, I'm pretty sure the teg always had a 1.8 dohc. The d series is a single cam, which came in the civics. The d16, specifically, came in the 96-00 (EK) civics.

Unless your car had motors swapped around...

the b16 only came in one car in america - the 99/00 civic si.

actually, it was a D16A1 in the 1st gen. It wasn't until 1990 that they got the B engines.

as others pointed out the 1st gen integs have a 1.6L DOHC motor, specifically the D16A1, which is very similiar to the ZC.
