Broken Humerus: not so funny actually

There is a nerve/artery bundle that runs through a narrow channel there. I have problems with it being pinched by my separated shoulders. That's probably the primary reason for the numbness and tingling. I've had two or three nerve damage incidents where close to 100% came back. I'm dealing with one now.

Don't forget about the part where I hit every pothole between 408 and the horsepitall.

Great job on the healing process though. Stay strong!

i was just at the dirt track on sunday, also getting smoked by young guns.
it's tough but you gotta check that ego at the door.

same goes on the road racing tracks. there are kids there on 125GP style bikes passing me like i'm standing still. i just had to learn to ride my own ride.

I know. I guess sometimes it bugs me when people who've been riding a fraction of the time I have are far more skilled, but I didn't really get serious about riding until this year and even so I'm only able to practice what I'm reading about when someone lets me borrow a real motorcycle :p

Don't forget those munchkins are also still pretty much made of rubber and just sort of bounce when they fall off.

Just ride slow and let the fearless little bastards get on with it.

I learned this important life lesson on the ski slopes. :thumbup

So I went to see the doctor yesterday and it went pretty well. When I was in the waiting room a drew a line on my hand around the numb area so I could show the doc where it was and so I would know if more sections of my hand regained feeling. I showed the doc:

He looked at it for a second and then asked me if I'd looked that up in an anatomy book. I said no I did it just now in the waiting room. He said that was amazing because it was the exact distribution of the Median nerve. He blew the dust off a crusty anatomy book to show me.

He couldn't get over the fact that I'd drawn that on my hand all by myself. As I was leaving he asked me to come with him around to a couple of other orthopedic surgeons who were milling around the hallways for this awkward kind of doctor show and tell; he'd say to each one "Hey George look how she drew that on her hand!"
"Yep I drew on my hand"
"Oh wow would you look at that!" they'd say, amazed. Apparently doctors find auto-anatomical drawings extraordinarily impressive.

Anyway, when I woke up this morning the motion in my hand was inexplicably and dramatically improved. I can almost make a fist now which is worlds better than it was just yesterday. So yay!

Maybe a wallet size pic of the x-ray showing the home depot hardware keeping her knuckles off the floor?

That Looks About Right
I busted mine up pretty good in '09. Plates, screws, badass scar:) The feeling in my fingers and the ability to use my hand came back as the swelling went down. It seemed like forever back then, but now is just a blip on the radar.

Heal up quick and get back on that bike!

I'm experiencing a bit of pain in my forearm that I think might be related to muscle atrophy. Does anyone know how long it takes for that to set in?

In 93' when my wifie was pregnant w/our 1st son, she managed to fall down the stairs & fracture her humerus too. Talk about a high-speed run to the hospital.....whoa.

She had some tingling for a couple months, but it went away as the bone healed, & was gone completely eventually. No pain or anything now...

Sorry to hear, get well soon!!!

I don't know if atrophy can cause pain, but it hasn't in my experience. As nerves heal, they produce all kinds of sensations, however, including pain.

Thanks for the positive words!! Thats a bummer I'd be horrified for my baby in that case.

I jokingly told a couple people that Kyle (oceansides) pushed me down the stairs.
