Holy Smokes!! that's one huge drop. It also looks like he landed right on the hood of the SUV which probably helped him quite a bit. Had he landed near the fender or anywhere else, he'd be a goner for sure.

I wish him the best of luck on his recovery, and Kron4 sucks for assuming he may have taken the turn too fast. :(

Jesus...I might know who this is. Is there any way this bike was mistaken for a KTM? A good friend and BARFer named Paul (Ozymandias) was in a mean accident on his way to work from Vallejo to Spear St., breaking multiple bones, including his pelvis. He was taken to SF general in stable condition. he rides a newer, black KLR650. I don't know any other details of the accident, but Paul is a VERY capable, smart and experienced rider.

My thoughts are with him.

Ozy got creamed? That Sucks. KLR does look like a KTM to a rubbernecker.

Sorry to hear about Paul :(

But he would have been coming from the GG bridge from Vallejo?

Red Power!
My buddy Dan works right there, he took a pic of the SUV the rider landed on. Holy crap! I'm emailing the two buddies I know with SE's to make sure it wasn't them.

I was parked next to the bike in traffic, and it looked very much like a Super Adventure. Had the same tall front headlight area. It's possible it could have been a KLR, but it really had the same shape as the SA. The bike was pretty busted up, so I could have mistaken its identity.

The thread that was posted earlier mentioned the riders name as Jackie or something like that, not Paul.

Heal up Oz and I kind of hope it's one and the same accident so we can concentrate all our thoughts onto one rider.

Heal baby heal!

Yeah, I'm certainly not saying it was him, but it well could have been, as that's his route and bike style. In either case, Paul's accident was bad as well, so both these guys are laid up at SF general:(

If I owned that GMC SUV, and when the guy is fully recovered, i'd buy him a beer.

if i where the rider and survived id buy the gmc owner a beer.

I am willing to bet that SUV was a life saver.

no kidding it gave him like 4-5 inches of give to spread all that force out. and id imagine the suspension probably traveled and inch or two. moving a little and "eyes open" hope that means hes tracking people with his eyes and not just blank stare. and if hes tracking that is a real good sign. wow, i hope the best for him.

Agreed, and again I could have been wrong about it being a KTM. It did seem to have the very distinct Adventure front end though.

I just got off the phone with Paul (Ozymandias) and it IS him. He's in a lot of pain, is in "critical but stable" condition in ICU at SF General. Pelvis, spleen, liver, kidney, shoulder... that was all I got before he had to get off the phone.
Please send all your prayers and healing energy his way... and yes, Paul is a veteran rider with decades of riding experience under his belt, and a good head on his shoulders.
Heal up fast, Paul... hugs!! But very gentle ones...

Will update further when I get more information.
