Barf Baja 2020 is happening!

Darwin's exception
sounds like none of the plated-dirtbike crew wound up needing barrel gas from Santa Rosalillita ...
one thing about riding in Baja, gotta be flexible with one's plans ... :gsxrgrl

Drew, Scott, and Scott went through and got gas on the route. Heard good feedback on it too. It's on my bucket list and bummed I couldn't get there this year.

The majority of the group that would have gone that route were out fixing and rescuing a certain bike that broke down the previous day on the trail north of Bola that day. Reb and I waited for them. By the time the repair and rescue was accomplished, too little daylight left to head out there.

I think we could easily spend three or more days riding the region near Catavina. :thumbup

went back and reviewed, and saw Scott’s pics from that part of the world ... we’ll show up en mass for barrel gas next year! :laughing:gsxrgrl

we spent two nights in the area this year, one at the fancy Hotel Mission Cataviña, and one night camping on the Pacific, and I camped by myself two nights west of Cataviña in 2019 ... love that part of Baja ... if you’re gonna go BARF-Baja-fancy, can’t go wrong with that hotel for a few nights ... :afm199

there’s a mission site above Santa Ynés that would be fun to find on a KLR and I’d like to see if you can still get breakfast and instant coffee there ... Santa Ynés used to be a stop for us on our long El Rosario to Mulege leg, back in the day ...

looks like a ton of good plated-dirtbike riding around Cataviña based on thedub/Dmitry tracks ...

Kalle wants to spend two nights at teh Cañon de Guadalupe hot springs next time:

I would have made the trip to Mulege, but BOLA is just too far.

I extended an invite though one of Kalle's posts, but he said you weren't heading south of BOLA this year. I plan on being down here again next year though......

we may be on streetbikes next year, if Cary decides to grace us with the FJ-09’s presence ... be a good excuse to find La Ventana! :laughing

feel you about too far, always run out of time around Loreto on dual-sport bikes, and have to start heading north again ... she’s been as far as Los Barriles on her Yamaha ... :party

I’m with Kalle!!

:thumbup

we should have spent another night on the Pacific, west of Catavina, too, we had simply perfect weather this year ... no wind!

some of Kalle’s pics:

I’m still bummed, in 2017 everyone got a sticker on their bike with a Baja Nickname. I was stuck driving the van and my bike received no honors.

I missed that one too. I think that happened in Scorpion Bay, and I was helping Ian that year.

But I do still have my og fun meter!

As do I and helping Ian trumps any non-nicknaming activity :thumbup
Wouldn't trade those days in Mulege wikth you and Ian any day. Tacos, cervasa, and the beach it doesn't get better than that.

Tres Tubos.... the famous Bola tube changer. If he can't get it right the first time, he can try a second. But the third tube is usually the charm. :twofinger

Hey now, don't you give my hero any crap! :x

KLR guys got a dose of BARF Baja humiliation in Scorpion Bay that year, with the "Caution Heavy" sticker-of-shame: :facepalm

:party

Hmmm, probably better that me and my American made beast weren't there.
