Nice pics! So I didn’t take any pics as usual, but looking forward to seeing others.
What a trip! Everyone should be safely home now. First a couple of thanks to those who REALLY made this trip happen and others who went above and beyond to contribute on the trip.
Wiles, thedub pulled together tracks and routes from many sources prior to the trip for us all to download and plan out daily rides. What Wiles didn’t mention in his report is that of that 1200+ miles of rides he led, it included some of the toughest single track routes Baja has to offer. No Wimps has nothing on rides led by Wiles.
Will, slowpez was instrumental in organizing, negotiating, and and reserving much of our accommodations. In addition, he and his brother Chris , bob-19 are owed a debt for their absolutely selfless help in rescuing a bike and an injured rider on separate occasions. The group and especially the two riders owe the two of them an exceptional amount of gratitude. I hope we and the individuals can find a way to repay them. I’m hoping Scott, Norcalslowpoke can come up with something appropriate to show the groups gratitude.
Rebekah, Rebekah kept track of expenses and tabs to ensure everyone paid and got paid. A tougher job than some may imagine.
Dimitry helped a rider too exhausted to continue up a tough climb in the dark to Mike’s Sky Ranch, even changing his tube at the top.... then went on to repair his own bike after dinner at 10pm before riding on through the night to retrieve a truck.
And finally Scott, motorcycleRN for having the supplies on hand to stabilize and administer help to an injured rider as we arranged to extract him from a place an ambulance wasnt going to reach.
In addition to Chris, the two other Baja newbies were Andreas, swedespeed and Trevor, racinmason. It was great to meet and ride with you Andreas. Your XR650r was Baja classic and the core group would be happy to have you join us anywhere. Trevor suffered a number of mechanicals on his 650r, but learned many important lessons about Baja and prep. While his bike struggled, he kept up his spirits and rolled with the punches. His bike made it to the end under its own power, albeit with a lot of help a bit more El Mexican Authentico!
Many things about the this years trip topped previous ones even with the set backs. It certainly wasn’t perfect, and lessons were learned. But thats like every adventure. :thumbup
