Barf Baja 2020 is happening!

Both groups made it to San Felipe after dark tonight. Fun routes today. The slow group was planning to take the old rumorosa grade road but we got CJ-ed into taking this rocky straight down the hill hiking trail instead. It was rocky and steep and the hikers we saw coming up were calling us loco! :laughing

We all made it, then hit the dry lake bed for high speed fun. Sun was going down by the time we got most of the way across and then we hit some thick mud but made it back to the highway. Rode the last 40 miles in the dark. Pics when we have better service. :thumbup

CJ hiking trail and mud on Laguna Salada sound awesome! we may see you today ... look for BARF Baja stickers on the Coco’s Corner sign ... :toothless

got to see if we were prepared for flat tires a couple times.
In typical BARF Baja style we pinched the new 18” tube, and had to patch the old tube and reinstall it. The patch held for a while and then gave up on vicious washboard and we got to reinstall the new pinch-flat tube again ... so far so good with that patch ... :laughing

Great stuff John! Looks like fun (except for the flat tires)

:thumbup

we did OK with our flats, which of course happened about as far from civilization as we got on this trip ...

my problem is I’m lazy and pay someone to mount my new tires instead of getting the practice I need by mounting them myself, like real motorcycle guys do. :facepalm:laughing

one thing I do do is what I was taught by my Baja betters, and that’s to always pay for a brand new heavy-duty 4 mil tube to go with your new tire. a re-used tube may or may not have been an issue with the KLR krew this trip ... just sayin. :toothless

the KLR krew will start our slog back to San Francisco tomorrow ... the BARF Baja 2020 crew plan on another two nights in Bahía de los Ángeles and will then head north via Cataviña, San Quintin and Mike’s Sky Ranch to the tow-rigs at Hacienda Santa Veronica ...

You guys so rock. You so make me smile.

Edit: I just told Sally “you’ll never get old doing this stuff”... and then I said ‘cause it will kill you before then. Or something.
