A very serious warning about San Mateo Suzuki.

You're smart for checking! :thumbup
However, there is no excuse for that shoddy of workmanship! :thumbdown

Recently bought new tires for the car and when I got home, I was out with a lug wrench checking the tightness of the bolts. (habit) My neighbor came by and said he wish he'd have done that too. After getting new tires on his car, one of the wheels came off as he was going down the road, not pretty.

Knowledge is Power
Yeah that's some scary shit right there.
I'd definitely be on that dealerships ass about that.
One of the dealerships left my fill plug loose and after I hit some twisty roads noticed oil dripping all over my motor and leaking to where my rear tire could have slipped.
Pretty sure that tech got fired after that. Eff that. This ain't no game.

Zoinks!!!!
Lol. The rivet dimple on the center of the master link plate... What genius thought that would do anything to secure the master link?

Red Power!
That first pic. LOL! If only the mechanic would have posted on barf before working on the bike.

Thanks for the heads up!

This is why I've always done work on my bike myself. If I die, it's going to be due to my own hands. Not the same as a motorcycle but I recently had a Mtb shop do some major sloppy work on my mountain bike. Routed derailleur cables improperly, cable was ran too close to rear suspension causing all sorts of issues under rebound.. Further damaged the seals on my Fox rear suspension (had to send it in for a full rebuild), and over tightened pivot/suspension bolts. All to hear this fuck face suggest I pay for more expensive 'full service'.... 'Yeah, we are fine with patching up someone's bike to get it going. However, we really would like to perfect their machine and get it ready for race level competition' ..

Me : Did I tell you to 'patch' my fucking bike up or did I give you a blank check and say (Get it perfect. I don't want any worries).
The shop guys are your typical Stoner/low end looking dudes who you'd think be experts at their job w/ all the tools hanging on the walls... but they actually sucked dick at it.
Problem : They tune a lot of team race equipment. So, they seemingly don't give a rats ass about reg customers. The suzuki shop you referenced fixes mainly police gear ($$$). So, they likely don't give a rats out about joe-six-pack walk ins.

I had to break the whole bike down, order and fit new bolts, and do everything myself. But goddayum OP, seems like they were trying to kill you or something :wow . I wouldn't stand for that shit man. You better never take your machine there again and go give them and corporate HQ a piece of your mind. I told that bike shop I wasn't paying for shit besides parts.

Useful idiot
I am completely at a loss. It's truly amazing that the bike owner didn't end up hurt or killed, and if I were him I would be furious. One more reason why I do just about everything myself. I may take twice as long to do the work, but at least I know it was done by someone who gives a shit about my safety. Yikes, man. :wtf

Example #3
when i looked @ the other side of the axle the axle bolt was not even hand tight & only held in by a couple of threads & again the pinch bolts weren't even close to tight & since the wheel was in backwards the spacer was on the wrong side & the axle was about .25" from coming out of the throttle side fork & causing a crash.

I'm betting they were trying to use that to seat the plate on the pins, cranked it down a bit, backed it off to check how it was going, saw the dimple, and said "oh shit, well, I hope that's tight enough, now let's try and rivet these pins..."

i didn't take my bike there, lol. i'm the professional mechanic that found all this stuff while i was putting on a new exhaust pipe for the owner because a tow truck damaged his stock one & just wanted to inform folks of what to expect from this place.

Shawn, dumb question #390, how do you mount a wheel backwards?
its actually easy, if you aren't paying attention or don't know what you're doing on a lot of gsxr's. the wheel will fit either way & the spokes aren't directional, so you don't have a huge visual clue as to which way is correct & if you don't know that 99% of the time that japanese companies put all the printed DOT info on the left side of the wheel, ie clutch lever side & again aren't paying attention. you get the picture :teeth

Don't most wheels have little arrows cast into one of the spokes to indicate direction of rotation? Pretty sure all of mine have had that, though I've never owned a GSXR...
