A very serious warning about San Mateo Suzuki.

Earlier today i installed a yosh pipe on a fellow riders bike & while doing so noticed some of the most incompetent work i have ever seen. this lack of competence could have easily gotten the rider seriously hurt or killed. whne i asked him who put on the chain & tires he told me that it was san mateo suzuki. i find this kind of "craftsmanship" utterly ridiculous & am livid that a shop would actually let this kind of work out of their doors. you hacks should be ashamed of yourself! if this is the type of "work" that you produce i feel it won't be long before you're out of business or in court.

example #1
here you can see that the master link plate isn't pressed on enough & the pins aren't rivited & it looks as though someone tried to "rivit" the center of the plate.

example #2
as i was installing the pipe i noticed the directional arrow on the tire was going the wrong way, no biggie, it happens, then i noticed that the tire was actually on right, but the whole wheel was mounted backwards & then i noticed the axle was sticking out & that the pinch bolts weren't tight.....

Example #3
when i looked @ the other side of the axle the axle bolt was not even hand tight & only held in by a couple of threads & again the pinch bolts weren't even close to tight & since the wheel was in backwards the spacer was on the wrong side & the axle was about .25" from coming out of the throttle side fork & causing a crash.

Its one thing to be an ignorant rider riding around on something like that.

Quite another for a shop putting out this level of work.

example #4
they had done a master cylinder recall & not only was the bleed less than ideal, they couldn't even get the brake lines routed properly @ the caliper & stressing the main brake line.

They must have hired the former mechanics from Golden Gate Cycles. Those bozos once delivered me a CBR with the front axle loose.

Wow.

I'm guessing they tightened the axle bolt but didn't tighten the pinch bolts or something and it somehow got loose... but how the hell did they get the wheel in backwards and forget to tighten the pinch bolts? How did they fuck up that badly on the chain?

As you said, it's a good thing it didn't cause a crash.

That chain... the first time I ever put on a chain by myself looked 50x better than that. That's just amazing.

As for the axle & tire... I'm pretty sure the "mechanic" was peaking on meth when that happened.

That place has looked like it's been out of business for years, but apparently it still is open and is an actual dealership.

Went in there once looking for a screw for a TL1000R and they acted like I was a huge a-hole for wanting something so petty and told me I'd have to pay for the shipping for them to order it, so it would cost something like $14. Just seemed like a nest of d-bags and would never set foot in there again.

To think they are working on bikes is just scary....

So this rider got lucky by you checking over his bike, but if he thought all was cool and didn't just happen to bring the bike to a competent mechanic he could be seriously injured or worse.

Always check your bike over after someone has worked on it, it's you ass on the line.
