Doubt it

*edit, to follow up, if the bike has better brakes i might grab it and sell the 701. Hate the brakes on this thing

We're talking differences between the 2019 KTM 690 SMC R and the Hypermotard 950 SP.

I have put deposits down on both and will compare when they get in.

Ah my bad, thought u were comparing to the 701. While the additional electronics I'm sure would have been nice, i don't think that in itself is enough to make me want it. That being said if i didn't already have a 701 I'd definitely hold off buying until the ktm came out.

Had I not experienced the latest Bosch MTC and cornering ABS on my 1290 SAR, I would agree with you, but honestly it's amazing. I never wanted TC on a motorcycle, but Bosch did it right! At lean, you can crack the throttle and the bike lets you do a nice controlled slide. You never know it's working except for the blinking TC light. It doesn't abruptly cut the throttle or upset the chassis in any way.

Cornering ABS is crazy as well. Mid turn, grab a fist full of brake and the bike slows you down in a very controlled manner. I'm still not used to it, since i've been riding so long, but definitely something nice to have when you 'come in too hot' into a turn.

Yes, absolutely hate, it's not the stopping power as much as it's the feel.

I wanted a brake lever with more adjustment settings than the stock lever so I was thinking of switching to an ASV lever for my 701. Then I read on supermoto junkies that some of the 701 guys switching to the Brembo RCS 15 brake master. Now I have more adjustment settings and better feel :ride.

Woah that might make me finally upgrade from my DRZ-SM. But only after these are selling used more cheaply ;)

Are you the guy that dumped the ABS to do so?

There's no cornering here :laughing

No but seriously I'd wait for the new ktm if i didn't have the same bike without the electronics already. I believe you that they're that good, I'm just saying that in itself isn't enough for ME to buy the bike. If there was also a new motor or chassis mine would probably be up in the classifieds already.

Id trade all that fancy electronics for a comfy seat.

The old 690 was severely uncomfortable, but the 701 is not bad at all. With the seat concepts seat, its actually really comfortable. I can ride 4-5 hours and be ok. Om the old 690, I want to get off after 45 mins. Lol

I rode DTM74 Dan's 701. Corners like a scalpel and awesome brakes but that seat brought back some traumatic PTSD memories of my 690.
701 might be a smidget more comfortable than a 690 but its got a lot of room for improvement.

These are not dirtbikes where you're standing 60-70% of the time. Crazy to put a dirtbike seat on a bike meant for the street.

Since you rode it, i upgraded the seat to a Seat Concepts...alot better than stock.

My 690 had awesome brakes, better than my old R1 or gsxr. For a single disc it was impressive. My Hyper has brembos and radial master cylinder and the single disc of the 701 felt stronger, the first bike I rode where I felt one finger could get the job done.

Yeah, your 939SP brakes were lacking :twofinger
