Wrist Rocket and 50, .32 lead balls. And some other stuff.
I have a family, four of us. And a dog makes 5. I have a stuffed pantry, plus 4-months of freeze dried and 440 gallons of potable water and a hot tub for wash water. And a zillion bags to shit in (gotta deal with it). And tabasco for the squirrels I might end up eating.
Water is harder to store, bulky, but you can get a few containers. Just start with the first one and go from there.

Also, for food, if you can't swing the freeze dried stuff, load up at Costco. Or, members of the LDS are pretty big on prep. Great stuff. (not a member, fyi).

Great luck, ya'll

I definitely need to add a recurve bow to the arsenal.

Many here have discussed SHTF plan. I enjoy listening to others because it presents many different options and views on how its going down.

My plan limits my arsenal in some ways. I will not bug-in as some of you have indicated. I have two secured remote locations to go if im not there already. If Im in California when SHTF and its a sudden catastrophic scenario I will go by dual sport motorcycle to my first location where I have enough to get to the second location. I dont want to be on the highway system.

My arsenal to get to locations includes a pistol (G19) and my (concealable) M37 shotgun. I do not want to bring any attention to myself in any way. Seeing someone with a military AR style firearm makes me turn the other direction. I dont necessarily want to repel people because of my arsenal - community will be vital to survival. Outward displays of tactical defensiveness by others will tell me they are operating based on fear, not open to negotiation, paramilitary structure, etc. Stay away.

At locations my arsenal is geared to hunt. I need a recurve bow added to it.

I really like that PC Carbine but it hasnt been very reliable with the glock mags:/

Say what? I just put it together a few weeks ago and have over 1500 rounds down the pipe. Zero issues. Best home/bugout Rifle ever.

Yup.

I don't see how anyone can "properly" "prepare" for SHTF in an urban environment. And by urban, I don't just mean big cities, but even lower density suburbs. You pretty much need a redoubt in Idaho or something.

And I don't.

I pretty much limit my stuff to the shelter in place "big quake" scenario. Beyond that, just have to wing it.

And if you live in Western Oregon/Washington, if you aren't prepped for in place of 60+ days, you will be in big trouble in that quake scenario. Big. Trouble.

The Mess Potential of a big quake up there is off the charts compared to us down here in CA.

totally agree...For that reason, I keep it simple. 9mm for handgun (cheap to practice with, effective with the right load). 870 with two barrels, one for defense and one for hunting, Marlin model 60 for small game. Since I live in the mountains, bugging out is staying put for me...

Sooooooooooooo many compromises.

I grew up with a grandfather with a dairy farm who had several water tanks on his property. His emergency water supply was huge. I have a 3 car garage and yet only seem to manage to store about 200gal of emergency water, which is nothing in comparison and will deplete in about a week, maybe two with rationing or four with strict rationing.

200 gallons is a lot when you actually conserving water.

200 gallons would last two of us 200 days on the boat in moderate weather or 100 days in the heat. Obviously need a bit more if your hiking or something in really hot weather.

Hell, 200 gallons would last us about 5 days at normal usage in our house, taking showers and everything.

To stay on topic, my bugout plan is walk to the nearest marina with a couple sacks of rice, pick a decent boat and leave.

If you encounter a sloop named SweeTART, leave it be. I'll be there shortly. And see below about having your weapons on a boat.

...they are all on my CCW and I could legally carry them in a disaster situation.

In a SHTF scenario, Marshall Law can be declared and render a CCW useless.

During Katrina, USCG confiscated firearms on boats they encoutered that were returning from having 'bugged out' after the initial phases of the crises.

Being a scofflaw might depend on likelihood of encountering law enforcement. An assessment of, "What's worse/most likely." would be the order of the day.

Martial Law has never been declared in the US, we'd likely have a really fucked up scenario if it were. Consider how bad Katrina was, albeit mostly due to the lack or support, and no Martial Law was declared. I'm also unsure how a CCW would be immediately invalidated under ML.

While on Katrina, I've never heard of firearm confiscation by the USCG. From what I recall New Orleans Chief of police, or someone of the like, declared that citizens couldn't have guns. It was generally seen as a huge failure being unconstitutional and largely unenforceable. The actual amount of confiscation was minimal, mostly trumped up by the NRA. That being said, glad they did to bring attention to the bullshit.

I wouldn't put it past certain areas of CA trying to implement such a thing in a disaster, but they'd have much bigger problems than someone legally carrying a firearm.

Probably will get flamed for sounding like some teen COD player but AR57 and Five seveN. Both are light, easy to conceal & use same ammo. The ammo itself is super light and easy to carry 1000s of rounds on your person. 50 round mags for AR, 30 & 20 round mags for the pistol.
I am also a 5.7 x 28 nut. I have a couple of FN FiveseveNs (one of each grip color), a PS90, an AR57 as well as a MasterPiece Arms 5.7.

All with the largest mags, of course.

I mainly collect here what is illegal in CA!

Color me envious. The FiveseveN is a great weapon and the 5.7x28 is a great round, just spendy.

Nice, kinda regret selling my PS90 but making it featureless would make it useless as far as handling goes. If I was out of Cali, I'd take this over the MPA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NjlDlLkPSO8

Was that available several years ago? I have not looked for anything new in 5.7 over the last few years.

I was thinking I had everything made that fires 5.7 x 28 of the (NV) legal stuff. Are there other firearms that fire this round that I do not know about?

No, that's about it, unless you want to pay the premium for a IOM Fiveseven with the round trigger guard in your collection.

I just thought about another 5.7 x 28 "handgun" I own. I have a 5.7 x 28 custom made barrel for my Thompson Contender. Come to think about it, it's never been used. I have yet to fire a round through it and I have owned it for many years.
