When will the SIP end?

sure

Go get a job as an anything analyst and let me know how long you stay employed predicting based on your feelings

If analysis and prediction were purely scientific, they wouldn't need you or any other human to even be involved in the process. It could all be done by a computer. But the truth is there is always judgement involved. Even sophisticated models have elements of subjectivity and judgement in their very construction, the selection of assumptions/inputs, and the interpretation of outputs. And the definition of predict is: to foretell on the basis of observation, experience, or scientific reason

I don't disagree with any of this as I indicated in the above.

The difference between a good analyst and a great analyst is one that can go beyond the data.

But my comments were directly in relation to my prior statement about the belief that it will get worse without any data to support my statement while also indicating I can't predict the future.

Maybe they shouldn't have eaten so much avocado toast

Do our cops, firemen and EMTs eat a lot of avocado toast?

My guess is they're just going to want to get paid so they can buy regular toast. With so little tax revenue coming in, there are going to be pay cuts, pension cuts and layoffs. And every week SIP goes on, it will just get worse and worse. Another 2.5 million filed for unemployed in the last week. Meh, let's stay locked up. What's another 2.5 million people not earning an income, not paying taxes, not buying things and generating any tax revenues, etc. Oh and that unemployment money they get will just further eat away at the amount remaining for our essential services. But let's stay focused on what matters: What's new on Netflix tonight?

yeap, when you can't make it as an analyst you have to reduce yourself to more pay and less work. it's tuff, but i made peace with my decision(s). :)

wanna know what is predictable?

How long it takes you to bring up how much money you make

it's getting way to serious in here so Imma step away for a bit

the avocado toast is a running joke about capitalism and how millennials can't afford things.

I think last I saw CA has paid out over $1B in unemployment in the last 4 weeks. I'd hate to make a prediction here and have to talk about it for the next hour.

What's new on Netflix tonight?

You don't look at the singular data point, you look at the trend

so, on trend, for the last 7 days, sweden has had a higher rate then it's peers. Will this continue? I believe so. For how long? eternity. Will they see more per capita deaths then their peers overall? absolutely, without a doubt

I can predict the future or what will occur. I am the all knowing Oz. I don't need data. I just know.

My personal position is that 300% of the world will die from this"

:rofl

Good laugh for the end of a long work day.

As a little business man I have appreciated the information you have posted. Your in a unique position in the biz world having to deal with this.

And now our local health director decided to stop disclosing data tables because the press was making him look like the fool that he is. No word on lifting SIP even though we meet criteria. But again today people were everywhere ignoring SIP and a few businesses are opening anyway.

On a related note, story on the news tonight about all the restaurant and hospitality workers that can’t even put food on their tables and are desperate for things to reopen.

They would have to be undocumented to not qualify for $40 to $450/week in California unemployment + $600/week federal stipend and one time $1250 stimulus.

Rolls with it...
The MoCo supervisors are voting to submit a request for reopening by June 1 on Tuesday to the governor, and the county health director appears to be on board.

This is all per the state guidelines. :dunno

i think this is only partially true, there are more reasons aside from being undocumented to not receive aid. one of my buddies was denied because he had taken unemployment for a year and returned to work january of this year and laid off in april due to covid. his claim was completely denied. i also don't know if contractors/gig workers, under-employed individuals, qualify as there is a mixed bag of results. there are definitely more exceptions than undocumented people from what i gather.

Coronavirus updates: San Francisco imposes stronger mask requirements
May 28, 3:05 p.m. The City of San Francisco is now requiring that individuals wear masks whenever they leave their homes and interact with people outside their households.

The city previously only required masks in mostly indoor situations, but it now mandates that individuals wear masks when exercising less than 30 feet from others or when passing people on the sidewalk.

During a Thursday press conference, Mayor London Breed stated that businesses have the right to turn away any individuals who are not wearing masks, but asked that individuals not confront non-mask-wearers.

"If you are not the police, please don't act like the police," she said. "The last thing we want to see are people who are confronting other people and creating what could escalate to a violent situation. Just let us do our job."
Seems like they took that one study where researchers said that you could catch the virus from as far as 30 feet away (probably under perfect indoor conditions) and folded it into their requirements.

This seems too draconian and they're likely to accomplish opposite of what they think they will.

fascinating, I work for the city and county, in office where I'm less than 6 feet from 3 others, guess will have to wear mask in the office all the time now.
