What will it take to convince you of climate change?

We shouldn't expect them, we should force them to not shit where we eat. Metaphorically speaking.

Sure, as Nation States first world country should lead by example. European countries is a mix bag. U.S. failing miserably.

As I said all this talk about individuals doing right thing doesn't take structural issues in to consideration. Let's take recycling. We are told to recycle, recycle, but what is ignored?

Petrochemical corporations pushed for that stupid recycling logo, and some number system. So they can produce more and more plastic packaging. Then pushed the messaging to consumer that it is their responsibility to recycle.

Reality most of the packaging is not recyclable in practice. Basically anything with a number above 3. That shit just ends up in landfill or our Oceans. Even lower number stuff ends up there, now that China told U.S. to fuck off.

So with this one neat trick plastic producers were able to push more and more plastics on to consumers, absolve themselves or responsibility, and not invest in to research in to how actually make them recyclable or decompose in to something harmless. While consumer has a choice of either use their products, or not participate in modern society. In reality not much of a choice.

Very good point, that I agree with completely. A possible benefit from the Covid-19 outbreak is the potential breaking down of commuting structural issues/barriers, because of the increased acceptance of telecommuting.

Actions speak much louder than words. :afm199

Yes, and the like maybe 3% of Federal politicians that still believe in those practices act on them regularly in as ineffective a practice as 3% of any governing body can be.

I will again remind you that Right and Left refer to a certain fundamental policy set and not any specific political parties. This is why discussing left and right positions is a discussion of philosophy, while discussing party specifics is PoliSink fodder. :dunno

sub·si·dy (from the google)
/ˈsəbsədē/

noun
1. a sum of money granted by the government or a public body to assist an industry or business so that the price of a commodity or service may remain low or competitive.

Tax subsidy (from Wiki)
Tax subsidies are also known as tax expenditures. Tax breaks are often considered to be a subsidy. Like other subsidies, they distort the economy; but tax breaks are also less transparent, and are difficult to undo.

Tax subsidy is an old Marxist term. Rich people are bad because their tax deductions are "worth more" because they are in higher brackets. Businesses are not allowed rightful deductions to carry on business??? Give me a break.:rolleyes

PPP handed out to many businesses this year are subsidies. That was free money to help many stay in business.

The normal deductions business takes are not tax subsidies, although the looney Left would like this to be true.

We take our "normal" deductions and depreciation on the three rentals we own.

But it is time to end the special deductions for fossil fuels IMHO.

It seems like every day there’s a new think piece out there decrying the subsidies that renewable energy, alternative fuels, and the vehicles that can run them receive.

Yet when it comes to the substantial government assistance for oil companies, those same critics are conspicuously silent.

This silence becomes all the more questionable when you consider that many such freebies have been on the books for more than a century.

It’s one thing to offer support to a fledgling industry that’s in the national interest, it’s quite another to continue to prop up an industry that owns a whopping 92% market share of the transportation fuels marketplace, decade after decade.

For me, there is a part of human activity as we are not aware, that there are people doing something in secret and part of a climate change too..

Merely Rhetorical
Oh, I most certainly and without question want to hear more about that.

One thing that comes to mind was some unexplained spike of ozone depleting chemicals into the atmosphere - those that had been banned.

And other stuff like illegal dumping in the oceans and elsewhere, on an industrial scale.

I think that I recently read an article about how some people working in AI social media bot creation, are increasingly turning to cloud brightening research and development as a side hustle due to increased competition in AI. Not sure if that is what the post is referencing, or even if I read that fact, might have been directly transmitted to me by Valis, but fairly certain that it is, "a thing".

ha, funny you mention that. I had a thought that maybe we want robots/AI to take us humans over and protect our planet's ability to habitate us, even if it means against our will.
