What if the Mayor of your city banned motorcycles

Not as fast as I look.
was that a question ? , because questions cost $5.00
Is that resident rate or commuter rate or tourist rate or native just passing through rate? Oh sheet, did I just ask one question or do I owe for 4 questions? Whoops, there was another one. :(

Major PITA
The current mayor of Concord lives across the street from me, so I would invite him over for a beer and talk some sense to him!

I see 4 lights!
Same thing if they tried to ban cars. I'd laugh and laugh and mock them until they were no longer in office.

Anything crazy is possible in California and especially the bay area and LA.

I bet people were laughing about $7.75 bridge tolls not too ago.

People have been laughing at SF and their elected officials for decades, that worked out so well. Now they're crying.

Wait, what? lets get back to the real story:
Do you do this to show off to the kids what you can do with that piece of magic that puts marks on paper?.....:afm199

Our government caters to those who get involved. Hopefully not just the ones who give them money.
This can all change when the current assholes die and the young folks, computer savey, all vote...

Agree with him or disagree with him, he's at least very active. But as he does more things State-wide with SF as perhaps a base for his proposals, it's very difficult to keep up sometimes...

That is the real issue Butch, getting our youth concerned enough to vote.
We are all so overloaded with info, both fake and real, that folks have gotten apethetic
Of course, if we could let the whippersnappers to vote from their phones we might have something....:)

No...:laughing

Stuff is shared between ABATE, AMA and I and we tag team the assembly member and try to get our crew (BARF members or others accordingly) to send an email, make a phone call.

I send support or oppose letters also.. according to the Bill/issue.

There is no doubt that people getting factual information is an issue. Just going to facebook or Google or a fav single news source does not provide adequate info to process a solid decision. If gives you what they want you to hear and what you want to hear because they have profiled you and know what you like or don't like to some affect. They all have agenda's to some degree.

The problem is as young folks we (talking as I used to be young) are busy with living and a lot will not invest in finding the real issues or answers for themselves. As humans we prioritize things that are important and changing diapers or hooking up with friends can be more important than real social issues... at least taking the time to learn about them and proactively address them.

And why does he want to ban? Did I miss something in the article?

It is not a ban. The article title is salacious. The issue is that London is planning for more ways to prioritize walking, cycling and mass transit over private vehicles of all kinds. The issue is that last year Khan and promised motorcycle advocates and the industry that he would give motorcycles special treatment and include them as part of his plan. He was broken that promise is only allowing for commercial or delivery vehicle motorcycles.

This approach of locking off parts of downtown sections of EU cities to pedestrians, bicycles and limited commercial vehicles has been around for a long time on a smaller scale. And yes, SF has been wanting to do something similar for decades. It eventually will happen as anyone that has worked in the Financial District, it would be a blessing if done right.

So get loud and let's make sure motorcycles are not cut out of the solution but I think this also underscores the need for more push on electric motorcycles. The argument for motorcycles is much weaker when many cars have caught or surpassed us in fuel efficiency.
