Did a little refurb on my vintage Kamado

u2X4oDdh.jpg

very nice. I tried using mine yesterday but weather screwed me over. I also need to build a Kamado station as the cheap wheels on the metal frame have imploded. Going to pick up some cheap 2x4s and start building eventually.

minion fire pit

Hi All
Made a fire pit out of a couple of old 5 gallon propane tanks. I think my fabrication skills are not as good as my ideas, or just call it folk art.
the hair and hands are from a broken pitchfork and the shelf is part of a trailer fender.

Great minds think alike (kinda). This isn't very recent, bit is a pumpkin I carved a few Halloweens ago:

It’d been 8 or so years since I made a shot glass, revisited with some clear glass and .999 silver, pretty stoked on the outcome. The brown booze helps the color pop a little more

I built my first custom keyboard!

Sweet. Do they still have the "+" connector on the back for the keys? Regardless, I still have a couple promo "More Beer" keys I got at Comdex back in the day. They are kind of a toothpaste green but very cool. I'll likely give them away at some point.

Yep, they're MX style switches. NovelKeys Blueberry switches, YMDK Melody96 pcb, YMDK keycap set and the aluminum case is from KPRepublic. Freakin thing is heavy :laughing

I'm already planning my next build. RIP my bank account lol

PS. I'm probably interested in those keycaps if you decide to part with them :thumbup

I assume if I remove this panel I will find some kind of filter I should be replacing periodically?

[/url]

As mentioned, assuming there is a filter in there (there should be) it will have the size on it but when you go to the hardware store you will be met with choices within that size at different price points saying stuff like good/better/best.

If you have allergies you might consider paying more.

Recedite, plebes!
Get your ladder and a flashlight and look through the grill. If there's a filter there you'll see it. Yours looks like it has small release levers, pull those down and the grill can be remove to access the filter. Some grills may be hinged and just hang down from the grill frame.

If no filter go look at your heater. There should be a removable panel that retains the filter (depends on age and manufacture). If not, back to the grill in the ceiling, there should be a channel around the frame that the filter resides in. Guess from pic it maybe in the 14x20 or 14x24 range.

As for filters look for ones that have a high MERV number in the 10 - 14 range.
The higher the number the better filtration. Cautionary note: the higher MERV number also means it's a more restrictive filter. Highest MERV number for most home heating units is around 13.

Good points. :thumbup

Not all filters list the MERV numbers, sometimes It's MPR get 1800/2200/2800, if it's FMR get 10.

I've found that the best place to get air filters is Costco, for the price, though you have to buy 4 at a time. If there is a lot of particles in the air, or you have to dust often, replace the filter every 3 months. Also, if you have a lot of particles in the air and you have rugs, a good deep cleaning will help out a lot.

And make sure you check for the arrow which tells you which way to put the filter in. (I wonder if that really matters...)
