2x72 belt grinder.
My 1st attempt at building industrial equipment. Fortunately no fingers were harmed and no one died.
Looks like ass, but it's beastly, and will turn bars of whatever into powder, all the while giving me maximum control. Its also pretty damn quiet. I'll eventually build a dedicated table with rubber dampers at the mounting points for even more quiet operation.
Half of it is scrap steel, 4" x 4" x 1/4" square tube and 1/4" - 1 1/2" cold roll
Powered by 1 1/2 hp motor on 220v. With maska 2-3-4 drive pulleys, giving me set speeds of appx 240-1100 sfpm . The entire unit is heavy.
All the welding was TIG by my buddy Ed.
Tension spring is a old fork spring from the Superhawk.
wheels are bought though diygrinder.com
Knowing what I know now, I would have built it a bit differently, but so far it does the job in scores.
