Would there be a simulated BARF too? Like a place where one could make posts, see how people would react, then alter to the desired result?

Not as fast as I look.
If technology allowed for a near-perfect simulation of riding a bike, would you still ride a real bike? I'm talking Matrix style, full sensory immersion including g-forces and all.

Sometimes people ride bikes because it's "real". Would the experience be enough knowing it wasn't?

Of course with that tech I wonder if I'd do anything real...

Without adrenaline, dopamine, and the like, the experience is not there. If your brain is so weak to believe you will die while sitting on your couch, you have bigger issues than riding a motorcycle.

I might also suggest that you drop a couple tabs of Acid (LSD). Then jump on one of those kiddie rides in front of the supermarket, and have your friends scream, "Go Valentino!" at you. I promise you will have the MotoGP ride of your life. Hell, you might even win a championship. :thumbup

When you can download skills for free, skills no longer have value.

That's the one thing I don't believe can happen...I believe a "skill" comes down to a buildup of experiences where your mind reacts to a situation...trying to download a skill would miss 1/2 of that, your reaction over a period of time. Maybe it would make you age rapidly, in a horrible way? you cannot download a skillset without an implanted history, which I think would only leave two options: it's not possible, or you would be fundamentally changed as a person in a bad way.

From my experience with it, I don't understand how the person who discovered acid made it all the way home on his bicycle without crashing...don't get me wrong, it was great more than once hehe, but things just....moved/morphed too much for me to be able to steer anything without mishaps, I think. I had no problems climbing all over stuff though.

On the other hand, that could be a hilarious twist to the game show wipeout or MXC

If it simulated pain to your body when you crashed and you in "in" the matrix, I totally would use it all the time. The pain is where your (maybe just mine :) ) adrenaline comes from and then being able to walk out of it after feeling the pain, it would be an awesome rush.

I suppose it would be like inception, how you still felt pain, but it didn't effect you in RL.

Would you rather dream something or live it? I suppose it would be good for training purposes, but I dunno beyond that.

I always thought that one of the most appealing things about motorcycling is that it's life with the safety protocols turned off.
