Overall good game, kinda sloppy penalties at the end there. Had they called that hook that hertel pulled on lucic in the last 2-3 minutes it might not have ended so pretty.

This is a much different team and that scenario may be a great reminder to their efforts this year. I think they have a good shot to sweep.

good game. at no point did I say the Kings deserved it more than the Sharks. once again, a very evenly matched game.

let's get the next one

Agreed, still some bad officiating though imo.

no doubt, but to me it seems to be going both ways. couture got away with a few hooks that I saw. I did notice that arm grab by (I think ) Lucic to earn a holding penalty against the Sharks, which was crap. But all in all, I haven't really noticed the refs too much.

was there something egregious you saw that I may not be remembering?

No, it's def going both ways, i don't think they're favoring a team or anything. I just think it's hard for the players to not have any consistency. There's 4 damn refs, i can deal with the puck hitting them every so often if they can actually get the calls right. If they're going to miss as many as they have been why the hell are you taking up so much room on the ice? These aren't discrete penalties either, the entire crowd at the arena sees this sh*t. Even 'Baily' the mascot wants them to get their eyes checked :laughing

And another thing, have some consistency with the f*ckin off sides calls. It's ridiculous what gets let go for off sides, until there's a goal, then they want to call it exactly by the book :rolleyes Gimme a break

yeah, I don't know how to make it better. It's good that there's 2 refs out there now, because 10 years ago (or whenever they made the change), they would have missed Lucic giving the stick to the groin area (face/name escapes me). BTW, didn't he do that a few years back and get suspended for it???

I'm still ready to get rid of marleau
One more season ntc? Anyways, was a good game last night, the back to back penalties in the 1st were dumb, surprised we killed them both off. 3rd period was a nail biter after they scored 2 in quick succession. Did not like :laughing

:shame get rid of their all-time leading playoff scorer? I actually really like him on that 3rd line.

it was definitely pucker-time in the 3rd. they did a great job clogging the neutral zone though.

Besides the save in the 1st by Jones and that gem of a goal by Pattycakes, my favorite moment was when Couture blocked that shot with a second or two to go. He knew that was the play to end the game, as the puck slid harmlessly to the boards. He started arm pumping as if he scored a goal...and that block (of many) was indeed worth as much as a goal. Beautifully done.

Marleaus also been there longer than anybody else. I just don't feel like he tries unless the puck practically falls on his stick. I will say I'm still impressed with how fast he is, the man can skate. He's got pretty good hands, but he's no Patrick Kane.

Burns has been my favorite player on the sharks for a while now. He does it all and plays to win every single game. Trade of the century lol.

Anyways, speaking of Jones, I wonder if Reimer is going to start next game. I think I'd put him in.

I respect the opinion. the only thing I have left to say is, when you have tied the Great One in a playoff record, it usually means you're damned good.

Lets Go Sharks

Sort of, until you factor in how many seasons marleaus played post 05'-06' rule change. The games way more offensively based now than it was when gretzky played. It's easier to score now basically, which makes comparing stats kinda useless.

I have one sharks jersey, Marleaus name is on it :laughing . Used to be a big fan too, just don't think he fits into the mold that I want him to.

Anyways, love that we got the LA monkey off our backs, I think we have a good shot of going really deep if not winning the whole thing this year. Chicago might be a first round out and Nashville is giving the ducks hell. Wild battling back against Dallas. Playoff hockey is the best!

...I gotta disagree. stats show since the 80s and 90s, goals have declined steadily. This is mainly due to the goalie skill level first off, and their pad size being the biggest factor, IMO, which overcomes any advantage the players have been given. i.e. there were around 2 goals per game scored more in the Gretzky era than today.

so even if it takes a few more years, tying ANY offensive number from the Great One puts a guy into the HoF discussion. now, I wouldn't say Marleau is deserving of HoF yet. But I'll stick to my guns and say the Sharks are better with him than without him.
