The " F**king Dog" thread

So, 2 weeks ago, my American Bulldog, Bayek, came charging up behind me on our walk. He has a genetic eye condition and has really bad eyesight. He's 90 lbs of pure muscle, looks like he pumps iron and probably takes steroids. Well, he took out my left leg and dislocated my kneecap. No big deal since that kneecap has been out many times before.
Today was the first time the knee was starting to feel really good again.
You can guess what happened next. Him and the puppy were running around like lunatics. I was keeping a careful eye on them. Well, the out of control, brainless mass of Dog meat slammed into my left leg again. I tried to take evasive action but failed. This time, kneecap was fine, but leg went sideways and I collapsed on the ground and rolled around doing a passable version of the"Worm"
After a bit, I found a stick and tried to get up. Silly me. Leg collapsed twice. So I figured, " hey, crawling feels pretty much ok " so I crawled about an eighth of a mile home.
Went to the doctor. Result ? Dislocation of the knee and a fractured tibia near the knee joint. Surgery next week. 3 months recovery.
And the whole time I was crawling through the mud and rocks, Bayek was prancing around with a big shit eating grin on his face.
So no more riding this year.
I'm thinking of building a roll cage for myself. Dogs, gotta love them

Man that sucks!

Wish you all the best.

I know what it's like to have rambunctious dogs. One of our dogs just about took out our entire patio cover once many years ago. He weighed 110 lb and he got going and couldn't stop in time and took out the post that supported the patio cover. luckily the patio cover didn't collapse and I was able to fix the post.

I broke my ankle in January and had it screwed and plated back together and I'm still in a lot of pain and discomfort. I will say that it is getting better over the last month or so. I finally figured out what it was and addressed what the pain was: tendonitis due to the stress they put on the tendons to move them out of the way for the surgery.

Damn, that does suck, 2020 continues to deliver. Bright spot good time of the year for a 3-month recovery.

Take care, get well.

My wife would disagree. Now she gets to haul firewood to the house, walk the dogs and deal with the generator. She's ex Army so she's tough but I don't like putting this on her.

That sucks Steve.

I hope all goes well and you heal quickly.

I moved this to the sink as not much about moto's.

That is a bummer. Sorry to hear it. I've had so many close calls.

Streak walks on a 25 foot retractable. If I don't watch her, she'll take a hard run and hit the end of the leash with a leap, usually pulling me into a heap on the ground. A couple times I had Homie and Streak do that on two leashes, lol.

Ahh our fur babies.

Ooooooooooooooooohhhhh. :wow Ouch, ouch, ouch! Damn, dog life lesson I guess... get to see what you’re made of. I’m glad you had your damn near blind muscle bag buddy to love you during your mud crawl home. That is the best picture you’ve painted. Not laughing at you. Definitely with you. Heal well, get it? Heal well? :laughing

I'm really sorry about your leg/knee. Dogs, what brainless bundles of love.

My 10 y/o Pittie is obsessed with our Granddaughter. On a hike last weekend I picked her up and carried her on my shoulder,- she screamed (laughing), my boy jumped and punctured my right hand as a reminder to 'be nice'. His tail never stopped wagging, but both of my dogs guard her constantly.

I never got angry- because I appreciate the fact that they love her so much .

Heal up soon.

My mother in-law had (up until yesterday) two 80 lb+ yellow labs. (One of them just died of a heart issue on a walk.) They were both rescues and completely untrained. She weighs 120 lbs soaking wet and lives in the sticks where the hounds tend to want to chase things like squirrels and bears. She hasn't gotten hurt yet, but I keep waiting for the day when she suffers your fate. I picture her dogs dragging her like in that scene from Indiana Jones where he's behind the truck.

Heal up soon! (and maybe consider a pug in the future. :))

Makes me feel better that I thought my dog broke my little finger last week :) She was off leash on a dirt road that we see maybe 2 cars go by I grabbed her caller but 4 trucks came by she wiggled to try and chase the trucks and something happened to my finger took 4 days before I could even bend it. Dogs be Dogs.

Where is the pic of the dog? :x

Sorry to hear about your injury. We have 2 cane corso's. One female who's small for her type. 80-90lbs and built like a running back. Then we have a male much taller and probably 90-100lbs and built like a tight end :laughing

My neighbor has Cane Corso's. The current one, Louis, I played with when he was a little bundle of fur smaller than a football. I'd lie down on the ground and let him climb on me. Apparently he has remembered that always, He's like 120 pounds now and still wags his tail and licks my hand when he sees me. He certainly doesn't do that for everyone, lol. He also loves my little Pit Bitch, Streak. They get to play together every now and then. The love heading for the mud puddles and rolling in them.

Army? Why did I think Navy?

Either way...I knew that's why we got along!

Oh, I don't mind a destroyed comforter, or in this case a pillow, or a pair of motorcycle gloves, 3 leather belts, a pair of my wife's shoes, a fine leather attaché and other stuff I forget now. Destroying a knee... I feel bad for Mad.

This was my first Basenji who died in early July. He was such a fun entertaining doggie. Still miss him. The new guy is doing his best to fill the hole in my heart, and succeeding. Get well, Mad...
