The Essential Trials Stickie

Thanks again, looks like it will be a fun trial. Scott usually sets hard but fun sections and that terrain implies hard turns into big obstacles. I'll have to remember that I'll get more drive on the obstacle than off it (too much time with slick logs), don't want to embarrass myself by going over backwards.

Riding All The Time
Very cool pics! Now I'm thinking I might try to make the trial :)

mission accomplished :ride !

Since most of us ride the big bikes too.... I'll add: You guys should think about riding the Rincon trail while you're down there!
Only 10 miles past Kernville.
This might be a fairly challenging trail (read YUM!).
(when we did it 10 years ago, I was very new to regular dirt bikes, and I found rincon to be pretty challenging. We were turned around at some point by too much snow).
Haven't done it since, but i'd be tempted to go down there just to ride rincon (rarely ever ride the mototrials these days, so no need for me to bring that bike or compete in the event)
I'm not sure if you can ride right up to the waterfall as seen in this web page here. But that would be cool.

edit: to clarify: it's the part titled "Hiking Rincon Trail" on that web site. Starts at Ant Canyon

Will try to make it up, ride a bit and drop off the stuff for the Copper trial. Do you have a preferred day? Saturday will probably work the best but could do Sunday.

Rode the Husky on Saturday and the Scorpa on Sunday. Moved some logs around out back and made some nasty spots harder. Gotta' leave room to get better. Rode the Hex for 15 minutes after the Scorpa; I really suck at the bicycle, lots of room there. Was able to practice unweighting/throttle over obstacles using a technique I just barely figured out before stopping the last time. Finally think I have the timing figured out, now I just have to repeat it so it becomes muscle memory (another 1000 times, right?)

OK, will be up around 10 or a little before. Probably just me and the bike, been a while since we've ridden together, should be fun.

Would love to join you guys, but don't think I can squeeze Saturday in with family stuff going on.

Got bike apart now for some much needed front/rear suspension maintenance as well. Looks like we may get some rain next week so hopefully get some riding in after Tday.

Sid you got a big bike yet lol :)

Fun riding up there yesterday, Sid. All the clearing/cleaning made a huge difference in being able to get to all the different spots. Turtle rock was fun, I need more work to do it from static, a lot more work.

Sorry about the water pump cover, wonder if they sell a protect plate for that are. After looking at it more seems to be an easy spot to hit, maybe just have one as a spare.

When in doubt gas it!
Yeah, thanks for coming up and riding around too bad it was cut short. Next time we will have some moisture in the ground and the rocks will be a little slick. Good pointers on making the easy stuff a bit harder and just tightening things up a bit. Got the water pump housing on order and have some aluminum rods coming in to try to repair the stock one as a backup.

I'll be out but on my big bike. Will try to talk to Jeremy about the event next year. With the latest legal decision in our favor there just may be a chance it will actually happen this time! I'll look for you, Micah. Usually park at the west end, there's pretty good stuff just in the parking lot down there.
Should be there around 9:30.

Shucks, can't make it Saturday. Will be at dentist in San Jose :(

If you want a good challenge, look for an uphill creek bed off main trail on left (if you are heading up towards Franciscan loop) just as you pass entrance to trail down to devil's buttrack.

I cleared some of the brush and it's a challenging uphill section few hundred feet long (on trials bike, probably doable on big bike but you'll be exhausted afterwards).

I'll look for it but thought everything off to the left after the Crack was downhill not uphill. May be thinking of the wrong spot though. If it's tough on a trials bike doubt I can do it on the Husky, still not up to snuff on the big bike. I also replaced the Mikuni with a Keihin so may need to do some jetting, can't wait to play around out there when there's some traction! Last couple of outings it was dry and silty (as you would expect).

I didn't do a good job explaining, little hesitant about posting pic. When you come down happiness valley and reach the bottom where you can go right "towards" the devil's buttcrack, don't.....go straight up the main trail. Then start up the trail towards Franciscan...it's on the left. Pretty tricky entrance as there are some large jagged undercut rocks.

I'm out until after the Holidays, twisted my knee pretty bad at work. Hopefully just a sprain. I emailed Jeremy and got a response back thought I had forward it to all. Doesnt look good for next year but they want us to have an event just depends on timing. And remember you can always ride up here I can follow around on the quad next best thing to riding is watching your friends ride. :mstingray

Just saw on Facebook that the mx track will be open and possibly the trials area as well. Access through the parks trails as the water crossing is still closed.

Perfect! I’ll bring the big bike. What bike you on? I’ll be driving a white double cab Tacoma riding a Beta XTrainer.
