How intricate is it? Or in other words how many estimated hours is it going to be?

I designed a Filipino tribal quarter-sleeve for myself that I want done in one sitting. I know it's going to suck to do it in one sitting, but I'm being stubborn and want it done in one sitting.

Problem is I can't find someone willing to do it in one sitting. At least two is the consensus.

what is the hour time you are expecting?

Me, I don't know. I think I remember the artists that I met were citing at least two hours per sitting.

How intricate is it? Black ink only, lots of straight lines, and my design isn't particularly intricate or flamboyant (see: modern) since I want to keep it to my roots.

It's basically this, and where I want it (both were early drafts, BTW):

DROOPY FOR MOD
If you try to cram it in all in one session it won't be nearly as quality as if you went multiple sessions and let it heal in between. to much work and trauma to the skin to do it all in one sitting. That's why no one wants to put their name on it with your time line.

My former mentor is Filipino and does this type of work all the time. I can hook you up with him if you'd like. He works in San Jose. That said, he is moving to Vegas at the end of the month.

longets sitting ive ever done was like 5 hours, if they dont want to do it, not sure why

8.5 here... it was fine for the most part... after awhile your body starts to go into defense mod, skin gets tough and doesnt take ink as well

^^^ lester is right... you want it to look good, i would trust the artist. They know what to do.

Agreed but 4 hours isnt that long either? :dunno weird that an artist wouldnt want to bang out a 4 hr tattoo? If it was 8 hours even 6 hours, I could see breaking it up.

Ah shite, I was so impressed with the tattoo above, I forgot why I bumped this thread up. :laughing

Taking off from work today at noon, have an appointment today to finally get my Filipino tribal tattoo done. Heading over to Inkies in Fremont to work with Henry, a full 8-hour slot if we can make it happen.

I've since decided to move its location from my left shoulder/upper arm, down to my right lower leg instead. And I've stacked all the symbols in rows, so should be easier.

8 hrs on your leg is doable!

I did 8.5 on my arm... it sucked but was awesome at the same time. haha

Have fun man!
